In May, we welcomed a visit from the Canine Performers!

Residents thoroughly enjoyed watching Clumber Spaniels, Fergal and Di**le, as they carried out a range of agility activities.

Afterwards, the dogs spent time being petted by residents, bringing smiles to everyone involved.

Fergal, aged 6, and Di**le, aged 3, each spent around two years training to perform with accuracy and confidence, developing a strong repertoire of skills along the way.

Their training continues as they learn more advanced movements and combinations.

In the world of canine tricks and agility, there is always something new to learn, meaning the dogs’ skills are constantly developing and improving.

Thank you so much !

Today is World Blood Donor Day!

We want to take a moment to recognise the incredible people who save lives simply by giving blood. We can't underestimate how much of a difference giving blood can make to someone's life. In fact, according to the NHS, one donation can save up to three lives an hour!

Every donation matters.

Every drop counts.

Blood donation is one of the most selfless gifts a person can give, and today we celebrate and thank every single donor around the world who shows up and gives that gift.

If you've never donated before, why not find out if you're eligible? It takes less than an hour and the difference you could make is remarkable.

To find out more speak to your local blood donation service.

Give blood. Save lives.

It's Volunteers Week and we couldn't let it pass without shouting out to the incredible people who give their time, energy, and hearts to the Marillac!

Volunteers at the Marillac get involved in a number of ways and we cannot thank them enough. This could be painting our fences in our gardens, decorating for Christmas or even getting involved with our activities team!

Our volunteers really do put in hard work which allows us to help our residents to experience more moments of joy, connection, and colour in their everyday lives.

To every single person who has ever rolled up their sleeves, shown up with a smile, and given their time to the Marillac, THANK YOU.

From the bottom of our hearts.

Recently, the Brentwood Imperial Youth Band gave a wonderful performance for our residents, staff, and visitors in our sensory garden.

The band featured 54 talented members, with the youngest just 10 years old. They played beautifully together and showed incredible discipline while performing in formation.

We were treated to favourites including Teddy Bears’ Picnic, Mission Impossible, Blues Brothers, and Blinding Lights.

Founded in 1990 by Mr John Wyndham MBE, BIYB provides a place for young people to come together through music, build friendships, and be part of something special. We
certainly witnessed this first-hand last week and can’t thank them enough for giving up time during their half-term holiday to perform for us.

We found the performance to be truly inspirational and moving.

We couldn't believe how great the band were and can't wait to welcome you back again next year.

Keep your eyes peeled for some more pictures and footage which we collected on the day… coming soon.

Thanks once again!

What a wonderful morning we all had, we know our residents thoroughly enjoyed listening to you.

Multiple Sclerosis doesn't look the same for everyone.

For some, it's fatigue that no amount of sleep can fix. For others, it's blurred vision, unpredictable mobility, or a body that feels different from one day to the next.

MS is one of the most common neurological conditions in the UK, affecting over 130,000 people, and yet it's still widely misunderstood.

This world MS day we implore you to do your own research and find out more about Multiple Sclerosis for yourself.

💙 Share this to help raise awareness and remind someone they're not alone.

This week our Activities Team and wonderful volunteers joined residents to bake delicious apple cakes. These baking sessions are always a popular activity giving residents the opportunity to maintain independence by measuring ingredients, mixing and spooning into cupcakes which promotes fine motor skills. The sessions provide a sense of community and accomplishment for all involved. 🍎🧁

Accessibility isn't just a buzz word for us, it's a right.

Today is Global Accessibility Awareness Day, which for us is a moment to reflect on what it really means to live in a world that's built for everyone.

For our residents', accessibility is more than a trend. It's the ramp which makes a trip outside possible. Adapted equipment which helps to bring back some independence.

There are an estimated over 1 billion people worldwide living with disabilities. That's not a statistic to pass over, but it is a statistic to remind us that the world we build together needs to be inclusive.

At Marillac Neurological Care Centre, we believe that every person deserves to live a life of dignity and possibility. It is this belief that sits at the heart of everything we do.

Every, single, day.

Gardening can be a therapeutic and rewarding activity for our residents. Spending time outdoors and connecting with nature can improve mental wellbeing and help reduce anxiety.

One resident has transformed an area of the patio into a growing space using raised beds donated by Brandler Galleries in association with Bennetts Funerals. With support from our gardener, he has planted strawberries, runner beans, tomatoes, and spring onions.

Caring for the garden by watering, pruning, and watching it grow gives him a sense of achievement and satisfaction over time.

A big thank you to in association with
