Bredhurst Woodland Action Group (BWAG) was formed in 2005 to restore Bredhurst Woods from the damage being caused by fly tipping and the illegal use of off-road vehicles. Now we are managing the area to benefit wildlife and encourage responsible users. BWAG was approved as a registered charity (No 1149618) in 2008.

BWAG Task Day 17 May 2026; today’s task was scheduled to be a Vegetation Survey but there were a number of posts that still needed to be installed on the by-way fence that we’d worked on back in April. Myself and Ray together with Rob Pennington of Kent Wildlife Trust installed ten posts to ensure the fence was future proofed before we moved on to our survey.
Our vegetation survey showed the area to be healthy with a whole host of chalk grassland plants, a number of which needed an expert eye to identify. Rob was able to point out to us the finer points of plants and the morphological and miniscule differences between species. Ray and I certainly learned a good deal, thanks Rob.
