This week the cadets concluded Operation Egg-Streme Jeopardy, finishing the build of their Egg Transportation Crane to safeguard every RAF pilots traditional cooked breakfast 🍳 Some great teamwork and leadership by all of the cadets saw the last remaining egg safely transported through the canyon. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!! 💪🏻👍🏻

Well done to all the cadets, and in particular to Cadet Venner who was awarded the best contributor award along with 20 inter flight competition points to go toward Reaper Flights total 🏆 A great STEM challenge and definitely something we will do again later in the year.

We also presented our monthly awards which for August were:

Cadet of the Month - Cadet Venner, Reaper Flight
NCO of the Month - Sgt Chapman - Tempest Flight
Interflight Winners for August - Tempest Flight

Sgt Chapman also achieved his Master Cadet Classification, the highest classification possible through the RAFAC Cadet Progressive Training Syllabus.

Well done to all the Cadets for some fantastic efforts!

On Tuesday night our cadets started the first of two parade nights on Operation Egg-Streme Jeopardy, a team STEM challenge. In order to preserve the supply of fresh eggs to the RAF (because a breakfast without eggs isn’t a breakfast 🍳), the cadets have been tasked to design and build an egg transportation crane to move the last precious remaining egg in the RAF larder.

Using only what they have been given and their own imagination, they have had to design a device that will carefully move an egg in three dimensions through an obstacle strewn canyon 🤔🧰🔨. And they have to do this while avoiding the dreaded sniper armed with tranquiliser darts who “removes” random cadets for a 5 minute snooze at key moments!

Last night saw the design and initial build stages, which will be finished next week before seeing if their design fulfils the brief. Some great ingenuity and creativity on hand last night. Let’s keep our fingers crossed for next week 🤞🏻

It was our privilege to have our OiC attend with two senior cadets. The cadets were a credit to the DF, Royal Air Force Air Cadets and to the RAF. It is good to hear that Brecon Town Council has made a commitment to our Armed Forces and will support our service personnel and their families. Brecon has long been a garrison town so it was particularly good to be invited and join current RAF personnel and meet some of the local RAF Veterans. Thank you to the Brecon Town Council for having us. No 1 Welsh Air Cadets Wales & West Air Cadets RFCA for Wales Air Officer Wales

I feel the need….. The need to demonstrate proficiency in using the flying controls for basic flight manoeuvres 😎 On Tuesday, the Cadets took another step towards slipping the surly bonds of earth! Everyone completed their Part Task Training, the practical element they have to achieve to be eligible for Air Experience Flying or Gliding. Some great efforts all round, and learning how to control the movements of an aircraft always looks a lot easier than it is, even on the simulator. Well done all! 🎉

A night of mixed emotions last Tuesday for the DF. On a happy note, all of our Cadets were formally attested into RAFAC by our DF Padre, watched by some proud parents. Taking the Cadet Promise is a very special moment that they will remember for the rest of the time with RAFAC and its words affirm what great citizens they are rapidly becoming.
Sadly, the evening also saw the last time our long-serving Padre , Marc-Ashton Walford attended the DF. Padre Marc has been a firm favourite with cadets in his tenure with us. From leading discussions on social issues identified by the cadets, to being a great listener and guide, via his zany antics with quizzes and challenges! Not a single session with Padre Marc passed without the sounds of enthusiastic laughter drifting out of wherever he was leading activities.
All of us at the DF will miss him and wish him every success in pastures new.
Marc, on behalf of the OC, Staff and most importantly the cadets at 415DF a massive “THANK YOU AND GOOD LUCK”!! 🍀 👍🏻😎⭐️🥇
