📣SAVE THIS POST FOR WHEN YOU’RE NEXT DONATING TO THE CHARITY SHOP!📣
November 3rd-9th is our Give Good campaign which is all about encouraging mindful giving of saleable donations, and highlighting how small actions can make a big difference to charities and the circular economy.
Before you donate, take a moment to check the following:
✅ Condition: Is it in good enough shape that you’d be happy to receive it from a friend?
✅ Functionality: Does it work as it should? (This is especially important for items with moving parts or mechanisms)
✅ Suitability: Is it something the charity can legally or safely sell? Many cannot accept sharp objects, consumables, or health and safety equipment.
✅ When in doubt: Call ahead - most shops are happy to advise on what they can take.
✅ Gift Aid: If you’re eligible, sign up to make your donation go even further.
✅ Electricals: Remember, not every shop is licensed to sell electrical goods.
✅ Drop-offs: If the shop is closed, please don’t leave donations outside. This counts as fly-tipping and puts extra pressure on shop teams.
✅ Disposal costs: Unsellable items often cost charities money to dispose of. Giving good means giving thoughtfully.
Your donations make a real impact! Thank you for helping to keep the cycle of giving going ♻️
When you give good, you’re not just decluttering, you’re supporting vital charity work, reducing waste, and helping preloved goods find new homes. Every item checked, cleaned and donated with care helps charities do more for the communities they serve.
