Explorer Leader , Mountain Rescue Guru, Educator , Secret(ish) Santa and all round Legend Bernie gets an MBE!
Huge congratulations to Bernie Stevens, who has been awarded an MBE for services to the Kinder Mountain Rescue Team over the last 50 years and for his education of young people in and around Greater Manchester.
In typical Bernie style, he's keen to stress that this honour isn’t just about him, he sees it as a recognition of the teamwork that goes into every rescue, but of course we're super proud of his achievement.
Bernie has given decades to helping keep people safe on the hills and inspiring young people through Scouts and the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme. From dramatic helicopter rescues to quiet acts of kindness, Bernie’s commitment has touched countless lives. Thank you, Bernie, you’re an inspiration.
