Krishnamurti Foundation Trust

Krishnamurti Foundation Trust Founded by Krishnamurti in 1968 as a charitable trust, the Foundation is responsible for preserving and making available his authentic teachings.

Established in 1968 as an educational charitable trust, the Foundation exists to preserve and make available Krishnamurti's teachings, as well as to support Brockwood Park School, Inwoods Small School and the Krishnamurti Centre. The role of the Foundations was described by Krishnamurti himself when he said,

"The Foundations will see to it that these teachings are kept whole, are not distorted, a

re not made corrupt. They will not give rise to any sectarian spirit in their activities... nor create any kind of place of worship around the teachings or the person." The Foundation is not a religious organisation nor does it have any spiritual authority but it provides a service to those who may be interested in pursuing an understanding of the teachings in their own lives. The Foundation maintains an extensive archive of Krishnamurti's original works in the form of hand-written material, books, transcripts and audio and video recordings of thousands of talks and discussions, meetings and conversations. There is also a collection of Krishnamurti's letters, photographs and reference material about him, his life, and his works. All this requires special techniques of preservation and the care of a trained archivist. The Foundation is also actively engaged in the publication of this material in various forms. More than 60 books are in print, hundreds of video and audios recordings are already available and more are in preparation. A CD-ROM has been produced containing the text of all of the published work from 1933 to 1986. An increasing amount of this material is being translated. Over 30 languages are available including all major European and most Indian languages as well as Japanese, Cantonese, Mandarin, Russian, Korean and Hebrew. The Foundation provides this material either for free or through paid downloads on the following website: www.jkrishnamurti.org

The members of the Foundation work in close co-operation with Information Centres in Britain, Krishnamurti groups in many countries and Krishnamurti Foundations in other parts of the world. For more information please contact:

When I compare myself with you, who are much more that I am, that is violence. —Krishnamurti

Context: As long as there is a duality – that is, violence and non-violence – there must be conflict and therefore more violence. As long as I impose on the fact that I am stupid the idea that I must be clever, there is the beginning of violence. When I compare myself with you, that is also violence. Comparison, suppression, control – all those indicate a form of violence. I am made like that. I compare, I suppress, I am ambitious. Realising this, how am I to live non-violently? I want to find a way of living without all this strife.

As most of our education is the acquisition of knowledge, it is making us more and more mechanical; our minds are functioning along narrow grooves. —Krishnamurti

Context: As most of our education is the acquisition of knowledge, it is making us more and more mechanical; our minds are functioning along narrow grooves, whether it is scientific, philosophical, religious, business or technological knowledge that we are acquiring. Our ways of life, both at home and outside it, and our specializing in a particular career, are making our minds more and more narrow, limited and incomplete. All this leads to a mechanical way of life, a mental standardization, and so gradually the State, even a democratic State, dictates what we should become. Most thoughtful people are naturally aware of this, but unfortunately they seem to accept it and live with it. This has become a danger to freedom.

A retreat for young adults is currently taking place at The Krishnamurti Centre in Hampshire, UK.

Over five days, fundamental questions about challenges, the past, observation and joy are being explored in a spirit of seriousness and openness. Dialogue meetings and Krishnamurti audio recordings invite shared inquiry, while informal conversations continue naturally throughout the day.

There are walks available in the beautiful grounds of Brockwood Park and the surrounding countryside of the South Downs National Park. Shared meals contrast with space for quiet reflection. It is a time of listening, questioning and discovering together.

The next young adult retreats will take place in September and November – we look forward to welcoming you. Learn more and book at krishnamurticentre.org.uk/young-adults-retreat/

[Link in Bio] sub.kfoundation.org/free • Four booklets are available to download completely free of charge. ‘Nobody Can Teach You About Yourself’ is a collection of short and longer quotes representing the depth of Krishnamurti’s teachings. Each of the short, universal quotes contained in ‘The Open Window of the Heart’ is accompanied by a photograph of Krishnamurti, many of which were previously unpublished. ‘Krishnamurti – An Introduction’ serves as a good entry to the teachings – it includes a short biography, quotes, topical excerpts, a text by David Bohm, and ‘The Core of the Teachings’. ‘Reading the Book of Oneself’ is a relatable introduction to Krishnamurti’s vast body of work. Using the metaphor of reading a book, he unfolds the human condition chapter by chapter. Download for free at sub.kfoundation.org/free

We have clothed our nothingness with fancies, with hopes, with various comforting ideas, but beneath these coverings we are nothing. —Krishnamurti

Context: We have clothed our nothingness with fancies, with hopes, with various comforting ideas. But beneath these coverings, we are nothing – not as some philosophical abstraction, but actually nothing. The experiencing of that nothingness is the beginning of wisdom.
