Your Neighbourhood Lead for Uttlesford, Lisa, and Income Manager, Rachel, were at Pam’s Place in Thaxted today for their monthly Uttlesford Help Hub, offering advice, support and a friendly face for residents who dropped by.

Couldn't make it this time? Don't worry! Lisa and Rachel regularly visit Help Hubs across Uttlesford, including Great Dunmow, Elsenham, Saffron Walden and Stansted, so there are plenty of opportunities to catch up with them.

How your feedback helped improve outdoor spaces at Priors Court 🌿

Residents at Priors Court, Southminster told us they were unhappy with some overgrown areas and the way grounds maintenance was being carried out in their area.

We listened to their feedback and Neighbourhood Lead, Rebecca, has been working closely with our contractor, Countrywide, to review the service. As a result, we’ve updated the grounds maintenance arrangements, so they better reflect what residents want.

We’ve also cleared overgrown areas, replanted the raised bed, and improved shared outdoor spaces to make them cleaner and more welcoming for everyone.

Plus, residents have come together take care of a part of the courtyard themselves, helping to make the area even better for the community.

Last year, a resident reached out to us while experiencing domestic abuse and controlling behaviour. Feeling frightened and isolated, they weren't sure where to turn.

Working closely with our Intensive Housing Support Team and specialist partner organisations, we helped put the right support in place. This included financial advice, emotional support, safety measures in the home, help accessing specialist services, and ongoing one-to-one support.

Today, the resident is settled into a new home and feeling safe, secure and positive about the future.

No one should face difficult situations alone. If you’re experiencing abuse and don’t know how to get help, please get in touch. We're here to listen and help you access the support that's right for you.

The final episode of Eastlight Stories features Rue, who lives in Colchester with her daughter.

After experiencing domestic abuse and spending time in a refuge, Rue was determined to build a safer future for her family.

That fresh start came when she moved into a ground-floor Eastlight flat – a place that has given her the safety, security and peace of mind she was looking for.

Rue has a unique perspective on what home really means. As well as being an Eastlight resident, she's a valued member of our Customer Influence Committee and a former member of the Eastlight team.

In this episode, Rue shares her journey of starting again, raising her family and finding a place where she feels safe. She also talks about why listening to residents and making sure their voices are heard is so important.

A huge welcome to Peter Baffoe, our new Chair of Eastlight!

Having grown up in social housing and a social housing resident himself, Peter understands the life-changing impact of a safe, affordable home and the importance of ensuring you all have the opportunity to shape the services you receive.

Peter brings extensive experience in governance, resident engagement and community leadership. He has been a resident member of the Peabody Board since 2018, currently serving as Vice Chair, and has also chaired its Resident Experience Committee.

Peter will play a key role in supporting our continued ambition to deliver excellent services, strengthen our communities and keep you at the heart of every decision we make.

Growing something special at Oak Yard 🪏🌿

Around a year ago, residents Philip, Tom and Nigel stepped up to take care of the communal garden at Oak Yard in Halstead after their neighbour Sid moved into a care home.

Determined to keep the space looking its best, the trio rallied support from fellow residents and raised an impressive £250 through donations. With the funds, they carefully selected a colourful variety of plants and compost, transforming the garden into a vibrant and welcoming space that everyone can enjoy.

Their hard work and dedication have made a real difference to the community, creating a beautiful outdoor area that residents can take pride in.

To help support their ongoing efforts, we're installing two water butts, making it easier and more sustainable to keep the garden flourishing for years to come.

Want to make a difference where you live? Join your local Eastlight Residents Group!

Our Eastlight Residents Groups (ERGs) are resident-led groups that work together to identify issues affecting local neighbourhoods, highlight community priorities, discuss solutions, and agree improvements with Eastlight.

You can get involved in one of four local groups including: Braintree, Halstead, Witham or Colchester. If you live in a neighbouring village, please choose your closest group to join.

This is your chance to have a say on the things that matter most in your area and help shape positive changes for your community.

This Thursday, we’re hosting one big ERG meeting where all four groups are invited to come together at Eastlight House in Braintree. Whether you have ideas to improve your neighbourhood, want to raise local issues, or simply get more involved in your community, we'd love to hear from you.

This week’s Eastlight Stories features Jo Jones from Melton, Suffolk.

After being made homeless, Jo and her children moved into their Eastlight home in 2019 and haven’t looked back since.

Embracing village life, Jo has built a happy home surrounded by open spaces and a supportive local community. Her favourite place? The garden she’s lovingly transformed into a colourful retreat filled with flowers, a cosy reading corner and plenty of care and attention.

Wanting to make a difference for other residents, Jo joined our Customer Influence Committee in 2025 and has been sharing her experiences and helping shape Eastlight’s services ever since.

Jo’s story is a powerful reminder of how having a safe, secure home can create the foundation for a fresh start and a brighter future.

Craig, a member of our Customer Influence Committee, attended this year’s TPAS National Tenant Conference alongside residents and housing professionals from across the country.

The event focused on how housing organisations can better involve residents in shaping services and making decisions.

Looking back on the conference, Craig talks about the value of hearing different viewpoints and seeing how other housing providers are giving residents a stronger voice.

The accreditation recognises the work we’re doing with LGBTQ+ residents to strengthen their voices, increase visibility and help make our services better for everyone.
