We had a busy March meeting on Tuesday. Firstly we were all mesmerised by Tabitha Mitchell-Simons and how she used textiles to tell her stories.

We then held our annual craft show. There were four categories and members voted for their favourites in each. The winners in each class were awarded a small prize. The overall winner was Janice who took home the Handicraft Show Cup.

Wow! What a busy and special evening we had on Tuesday for our first meeting of 2026.

Firstly we welcomed a special guest Moyra Jackson Essex Federation Chair who joined us in congratulating Yvonne Gowers and Beryl Whiteside who both were presented with a certificate and flowers for reaching their 50 years as members of Rayne WI. What an amazing achievement and congratulations goes to both ladies.

Secondly Jean Wells and Jean Sizer were presented with the Dawn Franklin Jewellery Box for being joint winners of the competition table entries.

We then had an informative evening with two speakers. One from Helen Rollason Cancer Charity talking about the work of the charity and the second from Judy Monk who spoke about The Nursing Association. We ended the evening with members voting on the WI resolutions.
