Rayne WI A Warm Welcome to Rayne WI, established in 1918. We meet on the first Tuesday of every month in Rayne Village Hall at 7.30pm.

Visitors are always very welcome, come along and give us a try! The WI offers opportunities for all women to enjoy friendship, to learn, to widen their horizons and together to influence local, national and international affairs

What a wonderful open evening we had on Tuesday! It was a privilege to host so many guests and WI members who were entertained by ‘The Travelling Baker’ aka Giovanni. He regaled us with stories of baking bread through the generations, gave us a demonstration on how to make a loaf of bread and followed this up with tastings too. We then followed this with refreshments of light bites and a drink. To top off the evening we raised over £100 on the raffle which will be donated to our nominated charity for this year! Finally a big ‘Thank you’ to everyone who helped to make this year’s open meeting a huge success 👏👏👏

Last night a group of ladies from Rayne WI attended Felsted WI for the annual friendly challenge between the two WI’s. The winning WI would be presented with the Frying Pan! Felsted as this year’s host organised a number of music and film related quizzes with refreshments of tea, cake and biscuits provided half way through the evening. Felsted WI were the clear winners this year and were presented with the Frying Pan. A big thank you to Felsted WI for organising such a fun evening 😀

Last night we held our August meeting and our speaker for the evening was Ian Kirby who told us the story of The Mitford Family. They definitely were an eccentric, aristocratic family whose stories have captivated the interest of the public over the years. I’m sure there is so much more to know. Maybe a little more research is required 🤔

We also celebrated two special birthdays this month. Mary and Barbara are celebrating reaching the age of 90 years young. Happy birthday to you both from Rayne WI 🍰🎉🥳

For the second year it was decided to have a an additional bursary and congratulations goes to Sandra who was the lucky recipient 😀
