Scar Cover Up Freedom Fund

Scar Cover Up Freedom Fund SCUFF is a charity that supports those who struggle with self-harm by funding self-harm scar cover up tattoos

Scar Cover Up Freedom Fund's Mission:

-To provide funding for tattoos to cover scars left by self-harm to support and help those who are struggling with self-harm. Founded by two ladies that have reaped the benefits of their own scar cover ups, SCUFF wants to ensure that anyone who wants to make that step, can access the funds to do so. We currently do all our own fundraising to help provide thes

e services, and are trying to access grants so that we can help more and more people. We are always looking for volunteers to join our team, so if you would like to get involved, please get in touch!

*Important SCUFF Announcement*
Following much deliberation, the SCUFF trustees have decided that for the long term health of the charity, all of SCUFF’s operations will need to be paused for at least the next 6 months

This is due to a variety of factors, mainly:
- Staff grant funding not being renewed, meaning there is nobody: processing applications; running our social media accounts, website, and other marketing; fundraising, and applying for grants; being the overall CEO of the charity
- Problems with regaining access to accounts lost following Jess’ passing
- Difficulties with collating information to submit the charity's financial reports
- Challenges with recruiting, and retaining, active trustees

During SCUFF’s pause, the plan is to work through the backlog of administration and paperwork that is required for SCUFF to continue to be a registered charity, recruit more trustees to help SCUFF resume activities as soon as possible, and review how SCUFF will operate in the future, to avoid a situation like this ever occurring again.

We understand that this announcement will not be what many of you were hoping to hear, but we are indebted to anyone who has ever given in any way to SCUFF, and appreciate your continued support through this difficult time 🩵

We’ve put together some potential FAQs below, but if you have other questions, you can comment them here and we’ll do our best to answer what we can.

FAQ:
Q: I’m on the waiting list for tattoo funding, what does this mean for me?
A: All applicants who are already on our list will keep their current position on the waiting list for when SCUFF resumes. However, it is possible that waiting times may be longer than anticipated depending on the situation when SCUFF starts funding tattoos again

Q: How do I get in contact with SCUFF?
A: The best way to contact us is either by emailing [email protected] or by messaging our socials, but please be aware that response times may vary as our socials are not being actively monitored by staff members

Q: How can I help SCUFF?
A: You can volunteer to be a trustee! We'll be sharing exact details of the trustee role soon so keep an eye on our socials for those

It can be easy to get wrapped up in your own head when dealing with mental health problems. The mind can be very convincing and filled with mean lies. This paragraph can help to remind you that you are not the darkness in your mind. Even though it can feel like it, the pain you're feeling will not last forever. You will always be more than your mental illness 🩵

This quote is great to remind ourselves to be proud of every single achievement we make behind closed doors. Others may not see it but if anything, that makes it an even stronger win.
This quote can also remind us to never judge a book by it's cover. You have no idea what's going on inside just because of a shiny or tattered covering.

Christmas is unique to everyone. No matter how you plan to celebrate (or not), it’s important to prioritise your peace of mind. This blog offers four ways to foster a peaceful Christmas, helping you let go of the anxieties and pressures often associated with the season.

The social pressures of the festive season are oh. so. real. But turning down an invite to a Christmas party you actually don’t want to go to could be the best thing for your mental health.

A new study has revealed politely saying ‘no’ to unwanted invitations during the holiday season has a bigger positive impact than dragging yourself to countless get-togethers you may not want to attend in the first place.

The research, published in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, found that more than three-quarters (77%) of those surveyed accept invitations to gatherings they don’t want to attend out of fear of being judged for declining.

However, scientists found that friends and family not only don’t care about rejected invitations as much as people think they do, but saying “no” more often can also be beneficial in avoiding burnout.

So don’t be afraid to turn down invitations here and there. But, keep in mind that spending time with others is how relationships develop, so don’t decline every invitation.

Practising gratitude has many benefits including reduced stress, better sleep, higher life satisfaction, and healthier relationships! 🩵

It's important to remember:
• Practising gratitude is not about forcing positive emotions which can lead to toxic positivity.
• It is not telling yourself others have it worse.
• It is not stating how you "should feel" or "should not feel."
• It is not having to be grateful 24/7.
• It is aiming to acknowledge the good in your life.
• It is a self soothing practice.
• It is a helpful shift in your mind set.
• It is valuing kindness you give and receive.
