Per Ankh (which means house of life) involves the regular meeting of like-minded people whose goals and objectives are to inspire community initiatives that will promote African unity and liberation. We are committed to meeting on a regular basis and aspire to organise successful cultural events and activities throughout the year that all members of the community can enjoy. We don't just sit back
and complain about the state of the Afrikan community, we do something about it. We deliver a range of social activities, education, cultural and learning opportunities in the African / Caribbean communities of Yorkshire. Established in 2007 Per Ankh CE has facilitated a range of successful projects and initiatives in Bradford, Leeds and Huddersfield and has developed partnership links with projects in Birmingham, Manchester and London who share similar aims. We are extremely passionate about making a positive difference in the African and Caribbean communities in the UK and are very proud of our African ancestory and roots. We believe that this is something that should be promoted at every opportunity without apology. Our view is if we do not celebrate our heritage and promote our culture as part the wider UK/British culture then who will? If we sit back and wait for others to act then we believe we will be waiting for a long time. We each have our own part to play in our collective future and therefore decided to do something about this. There are over 1 million African and African Caribbean people in the UK. We believe this is a significant enough number of people for us to be ‘shouting’ about and enough people to make a real change in the UK.
