❗SMA Infant Formula and Follow-On Formula Recall❗
As you may have seen in the news, Nestle have issued a recall for specific batches of SMA Infant and Follow-On Formula. This is due to the potential presence of Cereulide in the recalled batches.
A full list of the batches affected can be found at: https://www.nestle.co.uk/en-gb/media/sma-infant-formula-follow-on-formula-recall
You can also see the Food Standards Agency's Alert here: https://tinyurl.com/5ebtzyzk
If you are using SMA infant or follow-on formula, please check the batch numbers against the list above. If you have an affected batch, do not feed this to your baby. Should your baby become unwell, contact your GP or call 111. Symptoms of Cereulide food poisoning include: nausea, vomiting, and stomach cramps shortly after consumption.
It is safe to switch to a different brand of formula. All first infant formulas are nutritionally equivalent. It is also fine to switch from follow on milk to any brand of first infant formula - the NHS recommends using first infant formula up to twelve months if you are not breastfeeding or are mixed feeding.
If you are using specialist products (eg Alfamino, Lactose free, Comfort Milk, Anti-Reflux), please contact your health professional for suitable alternatives.
