The Rawha Academy THE RAWHA ACADEMY
Nurturing Prophetic Character
In the pursuit of excellence, The Rawha Academy aspires to develop people of Prophetic character.

In the pursuit of excellence, the Rawha Academy aspires to develop people of prophetic character who embody the values of our faith in thought and action, reflecting sacred prophetic virtues and morals. Our aim is to imbue a spirit of learning and love for our Creator, His Messenger(peace be upon him), and for Islam. The word rawha is used for an outing at any time from midday until nightfall. A h

adith narrated by al-Bukhari and Muslim relates that “An outing in the morning (ghadwa) or an outing in the latter part of the day (rawha) in the path of Allah is better than this world and everything it contains.” The word also has a connection to the spirit or the soul, which in Arabic is ruh, and its development. The word is extracted from the 3 root letters ??? which mean “to go” or “to come”. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said “whoever leaves to go to the masjid or comes to the masjid.” And it is said a day of rawha meaning “a good day” or a night of rawha meaning “a good night”. Rawha can also be used synonymously with the word raahah (????) which signifies a “rest” or “respite”. It also refers to a journey undertaken in the evening or afternoon, or the space of that journey. In a hadith narrated by al-Bukhari, the beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, “Truly, the religion is ease, nobody will contend for superiority in strength with religion except that it overpowers him. So be moderate, follow a middle course, rejoice, and seek help from the morning, afternoon (rawha) and some of the night.”

The word rawha has also been used for the gatherings of knowledge, because in these gatherings tranquility and mercy descend, and true serenity comes as a result of our certainty in Allah, exalted is He. In the blessed valley of Hadramawt in Yemen, rawha is the name used for the lessons given after the ‘Asr prayer, in which scholars teach about the sciences of the heart and spirituality. Imam al Haddad says in his book Adab Suluk al-Murid (which can be translated as “Discipline in the Path of the Seeker”): “the time following the `Asr prayer, if kept alive, has a powerful affect in attracting provision for the heart.”

The Rawha Academy embodies the meaning of “rawha” as it seeks to ennoble a Prophetic community who are dedicated to the path of Allah, through the application of prophetic knowledge, in its striving to achieve prophetic character. In the pursuit of excellence, the Rawha Academy aspires to develop children/adults of character that embody the values of our faith in thought and action reflecting Sacred Prophetic Virtues and Morals

The aim is to imbue a spirit of learning and love for our Creator, His Messenger, and for Islam. The Rawha Academy has developed a transformational programme for its Saturday School aimed at young children that embraces the essence of our faith.
