While the Rohingya crisis continues, access to education remains one of the most urgent needs. Our presence at NEU Conference 2026 was about amplifying that message and building solidarity with educators across the UK.

Education is a community asset, and when it is community‑led, it becomes meaningful, sustainable, and rooted in dignity. That’s why the work NEU members are doing, training Rohingya teachers directly in the camps is so vital.

As we move towards launching three pilot schools this July for children who have lost access to quality learning, we’re asking supporters to stand with us and help strengthen community‑led education for the Rohingya.

RCUK - The Rohingya Centre welcomes the strong position of Bradford East Imran Hussain MP on restoring the UK’s 0.7% international development commitment.

Bradford is home to one of the largest Rohingya communities in the Europe, and many families remain closely connected to relatives living in the refugee camps in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh, making continued humanitarian assistance critically important.

Alongside humanitarian assistance, there is also a need for strategic investment from the UK Government and the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office in Rohingya-led initiatives including education, livelihoods, and community governance to help address prolonged displacement and reduce long-term reliance on aid.

Today at RCUK - The Rohingya Centre, we marked International Women’s Day by bringing together Rohingya women, girls, and families in a space of appreciation, creativity, and empowerment.

The gathering celebrated the strength and contributions of Rohingya women within the community. Participants engaged in creative activities and shared moments of connection, with flowers and gifts presented as a gesture of respect and recognition.

We were also pleased to welcome guests and researchers from College London, University of Oxford, and Programme Officer the Race Equality Network, whose presence contributed to meaningful dialogue and solidarity with Rohingya women.
