TLG Equipping local churches to bring hope and a future for struggling children.

TLG, which stands for Transforming Lives for Good, is a Christian children’s charity who is passionate about seeing struggling children find hope in the face of adversity. TLG offers a practical approach to build strong connections between local churches, families and schools. Beginning with the work of one church in Bradford over 22 years ago, TLG now works with local churches throughout the UK a

nd Portugal to offer a lifeline to children and families facing a variety of devastating challenges. TLG’s beginnings started with a focus on providing alternative education schools for excluded children. Since then, TLG’s programmes have expanded, with a crucial understanding of trauma-awareness and emotional wellbeing underpinning all of the support provided. Whether at school, at home or in any other setting, all children deserve to feel confident, safe, happy and be filled with hope for their future. The practical, emotional and educational support offered through TLG Early Intervention, Make Lunch, Box of Hope and our dedicated Education Centres, truly is transforming lives for good.

What does it look like for the Church to respond well to the growing mental health crisis facing children and young people?

Tim Morfin OBE reflects on why a coaching approach is so vital for mission today, and how churches can offer safe, hopeful, relational support to children and families facing emotional and mental health challenges.

As Mental Health Awareness Week reminds us, the need is urgent. But so is the opportunity for the Church to listen well, respond wisely and help children move towards hope, agency and belonging.

Earlier this year, the Government in England published Every Child Achieving and Thriving - a white paper setting out a new vision for education in England, where children are supported not only to achieve academically, but to belong and thrive.

This reflects what we see at TLG: children learn best when emotional wellbeing, relationships and belonging are supported.

We’re excited to introduce the Coaching Academy & Network - a new, trauma informed way to equip ministry leaders, volunteers and youth workers working with children and young people.

The Coaching Academy is an accredited 10 month programme that deepens your understanding of children’s emotional worlds and strengthens your therapeutic insight -equipping you to support emotional and relational challenges, create calm regulating spaces, and embed coaching across churches, schools and communities.

Alongside this, the Coaching Network offers monthly supervision, reflective care, ongoing training and a UK wide coaching community - helping ministries build sustainable, relational practice so children can flourish.

A special evening at 10 Downing Street for the Prime Minister’s Easter Reception. It was a real pleasure for TLG to be invited! Our Chief Exec, Tim Morfin, was joined by other charity and church leaders - and children from their communities - to celebrate Easter and recognise the impact of Christians and local churches serving across the nation. It's always such an honour to represent TLG volunteers, staff and partner churches, and share the impact being made.
