Clothing Solutions is a registered charity (No. 1120118) dedicated to understanding and meeting the unique clothing needs of disabled people. Whether it's issues around shape, size, comfort, mobility, fastenings or fabric care - we're here to help.

💜 Behind the Garment: Ellie’s Story

Ellie lives with sialorrhoea, which causes excessive drooling throughout the day. For her parents, finding suitable clothing to keep her dry was an ongoing struggle.

Shop bought bibs are typically designed for babies. They are small, often brightly coloured, and not appropriate for older children. They did not offer the coverage Ellie needed to stay dry at school or during daily activities. The alternative, a waterproof coat, was noisy, uncomfortable, and not something her parents wanted her to wear all day.

At Clothing Solutions, we believe no child should have to compromise comfort or dignity.

We made Ellie bespoke bibs designed specifically for her:
• Small shaped shoulders for a better fit
• A long front to protect her whole torso
• Triple layered fabric with a waterproof layer inside
• Secure ties or poppers at the back

These thoughtful details mean Ellie can stay dry throughout meals, school, and everyday life.

We believe adaptive clothing should be designed with disabled people in mind — not adapted as an afterthought.

This fully bespoke bodysuit is made for disabled children and adults who need comfort, flexibility, and ease in everyday dressing. Alongside traditional lower poppers for toileting, it features poppers all the way down the front, allowing the garment to be fitted around the body instead of pulled over the head. 👚🧵

Each piece is made to measure and available in a wide choice of fabrics and fasteners (including cotton jersey, 100% cotton, and denim blends) so it works for real bodies, real needs, and real lives.

It can be worn under clothes, as sleepwear, or as a practical all-in-one garment.

A bespoke pair of autumnal vintage trousers, created exactly to our customer’s taste and needs. 🍂

But what truly matters is the accessibility built in: the front opens fully with easy-use buttons to support simpler dressing and toileting, and the back waistband is raised to ensure comfort, warmth, and dignity for someone who is always seated in their wheelchair. Thoughtfully designed, beautifully made, and completely functional.

Accessible clothing should be available to everyone. When design meets real-world needs, people feel more confident, comfortable, and included. Every garment we create is a reminder that inclusive design has real impact. 🧵

For over 30 years, we’ve had the privilege of adapting clothing for one of our longest-standing customers, ever since he was a baby. Each time he grows or changes, we carefully update our patterns to make sure his clothes fit him perfectly.

Ahead of this winter, we worked on three of his favourite jumpers. And this was no simple sleeve-shortening job. Instead, we completely scaled down one sleeve on each jumper, from cuff to shoulder, so that it mirrors the other side in every way.

This process is highly skilled: we have to unpick the entire sleeve, resize the pattern, rebuild the sleeve to the correct proportion, and then reattach it seamlessly so it looks like it was always made that way. The result is a set of jumpers that fit beautifully and feel just right.

What might look like a small change from the outside makes a big difference to our customer’s comfort, confidence, and independence. And for us, that is what adaptive clothing is all about. 💙

This funding will help us create comfortable, sensory-friendly garments tailored to autistic individuals, reducing distress and making clothing accessible for everyone.

💦✨ Playtime without the mess! ✨💦

Meet our custom waterproof tabards: created for a young student at a local special needs school who LOVES to make a splash in the sand and water tray. Her parents wanted to keep her clothes dry and comfy, so we designed something extra special just for her.

These tabards have three amazing layers:
1️⃣ Front: A smooth, waterproof outer layer to keep splashes out.
2️⃣ Middle: Our unique waterproof material (the same tough, trusted layer we use in our NHS beanbags).
3️⃣ Back: A soft, breathable polycotton lining that’s gentle against the skin and moves with the body.

We’ve also made dressing super easy with two clever openings ✨ snap poppers along one shoulder and both sides. That means you can get the tabard on or off quickly, without disrupting playtime, mealtimes, or comfort.

Unlike stiff, crinkly plastic bibs, these are flexible, durable, and comfortable; perfect for eating, playing, and learning without restriction. They protect clothing, keep the wearer dry, and come in a range of fun colours 💜💙.

Because play should be about fun, not worrying about the mess! 🌟

People often ask us… Why bespoke clothing? 🤔👚🧵

The truth is, no two disabilities are the same, and neither are the people who live with them. Off the shelf clothing is designed with one type of body and lifestyle in mind, but our customers deserve better. They deserve clothes that fit not just their measurements, but their daily routines, their needs, and their sense of identity.

At Clothing Solutions, every garment we make is completely unique. Why? Because every person we work with has different needs, preferences and goals. Some need trousers that are easier to put on in a seated position. Some need clothing that will not irritate sensitive skin. Others simply want to feel more like themselves in what they wear, and that matters.

Our expert team takes the time to understand each person’s mobility, health, and day to day life before designing clothing that helps them feel confident, comfortable and independent. This is not just about fabric and thread. It is about dignity. It is about making people feel seen, respected, and free to live as they choose.
