Yesterday, 12 cadets and 4 members of staff joined fellow cadets and volunteers from across North District Sea Cadets at Leeds Sea Cadets for this year’s Trafalgar Day Guard Selection Day.

Throughout the day, cadets were put through their paces, demonstrating their drill skills, discipline and uniform standards in preparation for this year’s North District Trafalgar Day Parade.🫡

All cadets performed exceptionally well, showing great determination, teamwork and pride in their standards.

A huge well done to everyone who took part, and thank you to all the staff who supported the day.

We now look forward to joining units from across the District this weekend as we come together to commemorate the Battle of Trafalgar. ⚓

On Wednesday, LJC Lister celebrated her 12th birthday! 🥳🎂

Turning 12 marks a special milestone in the Sea Cadets, as Lister has now aged out of our Junior Section and officially joins our Sea Cadet Senior Section! ⚓

To mark the occasion, Lister was presented with her very own Junior Scrapbook 📚— a collection of memories to look back on and remember her time as a Junior Cadet.

Congratulations on your birthday, Lister, and welcome to the next chapter of your Sea Cadet journey! We can’t wait to see what you achieve next. 🌊⚓

It’s been another action-packed weekend for members of the Ship’s Company, with plenty of opportunities to learn, develop and prepare for what’s ahead.⚓️

🥁 Drill & Ceremonial Training
Our Unarmed and Colour Party Drill Teams continued their training ahead of the upcoming Drill Competition and Ceremonial Season, putting in plenty of hard work and dedication.

👨‍🍳 Basic Catering Course
A group of cadets also completed their Basic Catering Course, led by CPO Rolls, developing valuable skills that they can use both within the unit and beyond.

🚣 Dragon Boat Training
On Saturday, cadets had the opportunity to get out of the unit and visit the Yorkshire Sharks Dragonboat Team, giving them the chance to develop and brush up on their boating skills.

Unfortunately, due to water quality in the canal over the last few days, our cadets were unable to get out on the water. However, they still had a fantastic time learning about dragon boating and are looking forward to getting back on the water in the coming weeks! 🚣‍♂️

A huge well done to all our cadets and staff for another fantastic weekend and a massive thankyou to Yorkshire Sharks Dragonboat Club for hosting us on Saturday👏

🇬🇧 National Cadet Week 2026 🇬🇧

As we begin celebrating the very first National Cadet Week, we are delighted to share a very special message received from His Majesty The King.

His Majesty has recognised the incredible contribution made by cadets, adult volunteers, families and supporters across the UK, highlighting the self-discipline, confidence, teamwork, leadership and resilience that the Cadet Forces help young people develop.

It is a wonderful recognition of everything that cadets and volunteers do every week — learning new skills, challenging themselves, supporting their communities and building friendships and experiences that can last a lifetime.

From everyone at TS Aurora Bradford Sea Cadets, we are incredibly proud to be part of the Cadet Forces and to play our part in giving young people opportunities to learn, achieve and realise their potential.⚓️

It’s been another action-packed weekend for our cadets, with members of the unit getting involved in activities both locally and further afield.

While some of our cadets and staff were at the Saltaire Festival, helping with fundraising and recruitment, 7 of our cadets and 1 member of staff travelled to CTC Driffield to attend the Northern Districts Tri-District Training Weekend.

The weekend gave our cadets the opportunity to learn new skills, gain qualifications and experience different areas of Sea Cadet training.

🎶 PO Cadet Turner, Leading Cadet Hudson and Leading Cadet Metcalfe attended the Band Acquaint Course, giving them the opportunity to learn more about cadet bands and develop their musical skills.

📚 Able Cadets Osunnaiye, Fulbirg and Kerwin, along with Ordinary Cadet Priestley, successfully completed their Basic Peer Educator Course. This course helps cadets develop the skills and confidence needed to support and educate their fellow cadets.

💪 The weekend also saw PO Armstrong running the Basic PT Course, providing cadets with the opportunity to develop their physical training knowledge and skills.

A huge well done to everyone who took part! 👏⚓
