Bradford Metropolitan Food Bank

Bradford Metropolitan Food Bank We work with professional agencies to provide free, nourishing food to people in crisis. Some wholesale food companies also donate items on a regular basis.

Bradford Metropolitan Food Bank aims to help individuals and families in crisis by providing free emergency food until the appropriate agencies are in a position to assist. We collect tinned and dried food, which is donated by the public at churches, mosques, temples, workplaces and schools. The food is then given to people in crisis as a result of referrals from professionals such as Social Serv

ices, Connexions, Health Visitors, and other carers working in the front line. A typical bag of food for an individual may contain: tinned vegetables, tinned meat or fish, tinned fruit, tea/coffee, sugar, long-life milk, cereal, pasta or rice, biscuits and energy bars.

Wishing everyone a belated Happy Easter from all of us at Bradford Metropolitan Food Bank! We hope your weekend has been filled with friends, family, smiles and chocolate☺️

We also want to say a huge thanks for helping us to provide free food to those who need support across the Bradford District. As we so often say, we couldn't do this without you!

We're thinking too about those who are struggling to make ends meet in communities across the whole of the UK, and of families and children living in perilous situations in war-torn countries. These are extremely difficult times for so many people. Your support means such a lot and reminds us that community action unites us in difficult times ❤

This is to let you know that our lovely friend and colleague Ken Leach was given a wonderful send-off in a private funeral shortly before Christmas.

We'd like to express our sincere thanks to Ken's family and in particular his wife Marjorie, for requesting that donations be made to our food bank in lieu of flowers. The collection raised an amazing £788.75, which is an incredible tribute to Ken and his heartfelt belief in the work of our food bank.

Our thoughts are with his loved ones. Rest in peace, Ken ❤

Cold weather provision for homeless people is open all year round. Homeless Outreach Teams provide on the ground support to people sleeping rough in places such as parks, stations, bus shelters and shop doorways. If you know of anyone sleeping rough like this, you can use Street Link to send an alert to Council and Charity Outreach provision so that they can provide support. Keep a lookout and help if you can.

As the temperatures are set to drop further and more bad weather forecast, Cold Weather Provision for homeless is open all year round and outreach workers are out. They can also help with long term housing support.
If you are worried about anyone sleeping rough in the district please use to connect them to support services.

Wishing you a happy, healthy and hopeful New Year!

As always, 2025 was a busy year for us. Our lovely team of volunteers worked in all weathers, from winter snow and icy temperatures to summer heatwaves, in order to pack and distribute up to 300 emergency parcels each and every week. That’s approximately 15,000 parcels for the year.

So a massive well done and thank you to everybody who helped us to make this happen, whether through volunteering your time with us, donating food items, completing sponsored challenges, donating cash or sharing our Facebook posts. We hope you’ll continue to support us this year in our aim to reduce hunger in our District.

Here’s to a brighter year ahead! 🎉

It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we share the news that one of our dear colleagues at Bradford Metropolitan Food Bank has passed away.

Ken Leach was a founding member of our food bank and as such he devoted countless hours to his role as a Trustee and volunteer, ensuring that those in need could access nutritious food. Always busy, he worked tirelessly behind the scenes raising awareness about food poverty, developing new collection points and driving here, there and everywhere to pick up donations to refill the shelves.

Without a doubt, Ken's dedication to our food bank, coupled with his commitment to helping others, has made a profound impact on the lives of many individuals and families in the Bradford Metropolitan District. We will miss him dearly both as a colleague and a friend. Our deepest sympathies go to his wife and family at this very sad time.
