The last few weeks have been busy at cubs, they have made their own dyes from different fruits and vegetables and then used them to make tie-dye t-shirts. This week they have been learning about cubs in Catalonia, which has included learning the Catalonian cub promise, some different games they play, and they have practiced their cooking skills by making patatas bravas (which were very yummy)

A great weekend at Blackhills 80th birthday bash

Yesterday we had our AGM and so lovely to see Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, leaders and parents/siblings together. It brought it home just how much our group has grown this year. We saw the awards of Acorn and Bronze, badge presentations and investiture of young people and leaders. Thank you to Frances Dowson for being our chair for the last few years and we now welcome Tom into this role. Looking forward to the year ahead

Tonight the cubs started with a new game before looking at different charities that operate around the world and the work that they do, including UNICEF, WWF, and The Hunger Project. After this the cubs spent some time trying to decide how to best sort household waste into things for general waste, recycling, donating to charity shops and taking things to the household waste recycling centre (the tip). We had a discussion about why some things would go to different places. We finished off with a mini badge presentation for two of our cubs that weren't here last week, and presented them with their sixer badges

Tonight for the cubs first week back they have been working hard on their teamwork and leadership skills through lots of different team games. We also spent a little bit of time thinking about what we might want to put in their time capsule to celebrate the cubs 110th birthday. We finished the evening with one of the cubs favourite games, chance the ace (or the alphabet game).
