Bosom Friends - Bradford

Bosom Friends - Bradford Bosom Friends is an independent, patient led charity, set up to provide friendship, help and support, established on its own in 1992.

Bosom Friends has been running for over 30 years since it was set up by Sister Norma Russell, the Bradford Breast Care Nurse, to provide friendship, help and support to women with breast cancer and to their families. The group is now patient led, but with support from the Breast Care Team who attend some of the meetings to give us updates on treatments and new surgical techniques. We usually meet

on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 7pm at the Cancer Support Centre on Smith Lane. The meetings are friendly social events, an opportunity to chat over a cup of tea with other women who are living with or beyond breast cancer. Much of the emphasis is about getting on with life with or after cancer and the content of the evening meeting varies from talks from guest speakers to quizzes, jewellery parties, belly dancing and other fun activities. The big event in October every year is our Fashion Show. All the models participating in the show are women who have been affected by breast cancer but partners and younger children can also strut the catwalk. This always proves to be a massive confidence boost for the models, looking good and feeling great! Plans for the Annual Fashion Show in October are under way and we are recruiting models already. Bosom Friends is an independent registered charity and we rely entirely on fund raising and voluntary donations. Funds raised are used in a number of ways to benefit women being treated in Bradford. In some circumstances we can provide financial support e.g to purchase specialised underwear. We have helped the Cancer Support Centre with funding for a Complementary Therapist, have in the past bought specialised beds and other furniture and home comforts for the Breast Care Ward and are currently helping make the Dales Suite a pleasant and welcoming place. If you would like to send us a donation, please contact us, or use https://www.justgiving.com/bosomfriends-bradford but please DO drop us an email to let us know your details.... we would like to say thank you. If you would like more information about Bosom Friends, the meetings or feel you would just like to talk on a one to one basis with someone who has been through the same problems as yourself, please contact us by sending us a private message and we will get back to you.

Sharing for your info

My name is Gizem, and I work for a research company called Opinion Health.

I am reaching out to ask for your support with a UK research survey we are currently conducting on metastatic breast cancer (MBC).

We are looking to hear from women in the UK who are currently taking Ibrance. Given your wonderful community, we would be very grateful if you could help us share this survey with anyone who may be eligible.

Thank you very much for your time and support.

Supporting local can make an incredible difference. 💗

While the larger national charities do amazing work, I’d love to shine a light on smaller, Independent charities like us …..
Bosom Friends – an independent local charity that provides vital support and friendship to people affected by breast cancer in our community. We are totally volunteer led - so EVERY PENNY goes to support those with a breast cancer diagnosis.

Every donation stays close to home, helping fund practical support, emotional care, and services that make a real difference to local families when they need it most.

Small charities often don’t have the huge marketing budgets or national recognition of the larger organisations, but the impact they have is truly life-changing.

If you’re able to donate, fundraise, or simply share their work, you’ll be helping ensure they can continue supporting those who need them most.

Let’s show our local charities some love.
Every pound, every share, and every act of kindness counts. 💕

Ey-Up it’s Yorkshire day …. And also

Pinch Punch, 1st of the month.
Time for your monthly breast check boys and girls!

Whatever your age, size or shape it's important to get to know your 'normal' and be breast aware.

Please share with your pals, Mum, Dad or your neighbour - it's never too early to start checking your breasts. 💕

As a small, independent, registered charity, WE NEED YOUR HELP!
We have been running for over 30 years but still need to get the Bosom Friends name out there - we can’t support those with Breast Cancer if they don’t know we exist!

Our group is 100% run by volunteers, who have all had a breast cancer diagnosis themselves. We find this is extremely beneficial, as we have a great understanding of others fears and apprehension.

Please like our page, if you haven’t already,
Invite your friends and share our posts.
(PLEASE don’t screenshot - or if you do TAG US so people know we’re here!)

Even better if you use the ❤️ or 😮 reactions on our posts to help them get seen more.

Thank you 💕
