Man up.”
“Don’t cry.”
“Be a man.”
“Deal with it yourself.”

Boys and men hear these messages from a young age — and they can make it harder to recognise, express and ask for help with difficult emotions.

Being strong doesn't mean pretending you're not struggling.

You can be masculine and still be vulnerable.
You can be confident and still ask for help.
You can be strong and still say, “I'm not okay.”

The problem isn't masculinity itself. It's when boys are taught that being a man means suppressing emotions, never asking for help or proving yourself through aggression.

We need to give young men more ways to understand what they're feeling — not shame them for having feelings in the first place. 💜

What would you say to a young man who has been told to “man up"

Remembering is not about staying in the past. It’s about understanding how history has shaped the world we live in today. 💜

23 August, is the International Day for the Remembrance of the Slave Trade and its Abolition.

Millions of African people were forcibly taken from their homes, families were torn apart, cultures were attacked, and the effects of slavery continue to shape inequalities and racism today.

For young people especially, learning this history matters. It helps us understand injustice, challenge racism and have more informed conversations about equality.

🌍 Help shape a fairer future

Honour the past. Remember. Reflect. Act.

PMS, PMDD or just a really difficult week? 🌸

It can be hard to know whether changes in mood, energy or physical symptoms are part of your menstrual cycle or something else.

PMS can cause noticeable symptoms before your period, but they’re usually manageable.

PMDD is more severe and can significantly affect your mood, relationships, work, school or everyday life. It’s more than simply having a “bad week”.

And sometimes… a bad week is just a bad week. Stress, relationships, exams, work, lack of sleep and lots of other things can affect how we feel too.

One useful thing you can do is track your symptoms across several cycles. Patterns can give you something concrete to discuss with a GP or healthcare professional.

Most importantly, you don't have to just put up with symptoms that are seriously affecting your life. 💜

Your feelings are valid. Your health matters.

Someone being disappointed in you doesn't automatically mean you've done something wrong.

If you're used to people-pleasing, setting a boundary can feel uncomfortable because their reaction can make you immediately question yourself.

But remember:

💜 You can care about someone's feelings without fixing them.
💜 You can say no without being unkind.
💜 Someone can disagree with your decision and you can still stand by it.
💜 Their disappointment isn't automatically evidence that you've done something wrong.

Healthy boundaries can disappoint people. That doesn't make them unhealthy.

Have you ever changed your mind just because someone was disappointed? 👇

Domestic abuse isn’t always physical.

Sometimes it looks like:

Being constantly monitored

Being isolated from friends or family

Someone controlling your money

Being made to feel guilty for having your own life

Someone checking your phone or messages

Feeling like you have to change your behaviour to avoid their reaction

Being made to question your own feelings or judgement

It can be difficult to recognise when these behaviours happen gradually — especially when they're presented as love, care or jealousy.

But control isn't the same as care.

You don't have to wait for abuse to become physical before taking what you're experiencing seriously. 💜

If something doesn't feel right, talk to someone you trust or seek professional support.

Save this. Share it. Start the conversation

GCSE Results Day can bring so many different emotions — excitement, relief, disappointment, pride, anxiety… sometimes all at once.

Whatever your results look like today, remember:

💜 Your grades don't define your intelligence.
💜 They don't define your worth.
💜 They don't decide your entire future.

If you got the results you hoped for, celebrate yourself. You worked for this.

If you didn't, it's okay to feel disappointed. Take some time, talk to someone you trust and remember that there are different routes and opportunities ahead.

You don't need to have your whole future figured out today.

One results sheet is one moment in your story — not the whole story. 🎓💜

Listening is hearing someone’s words.

Validation is helping them feel understood. 🤍

And no — validating someone doesn’t mean you agree with everything they’re saying or excuse harmful behaviour.

You can say:

🗣️ “I can understand why you felt hurt.”
without saying: “What you did was okay.”

Sometimes we rush to give advice, solve the problem, or say “I’ve been through that too.” But what someone needs first may simply be to know:

“My feelings make sense. Someone actually gets it.”

Try this next time someone opens up:
👉 “Do you want me to listen, help you find a solution, or just be here with you?”

That one question can change the whole conversation.

💜 "Stop overthinking."

If it were that easy... don't you think they would?

When someone is overthinking, they're often not choosing to stay stuck.

Their mind might be trying to: 💭 Prepare for the worst. 💭 Avoid making a mistake. 💭 Make sense of a situation. 💭 Protect them from getting hurt.

So hearing "Just stop overthinking" can sometimes feel like:

❌ "Your feelings don't matter." ❌ "You're making a big deal out of nothing." ❌ "You should be able to control your thoughts."

Instead, try saying:

💜 "Do you want to talk about it?" 💜 "I'm here to listen." 💜 "That sounds really difficult." 💜 "Let's take it one step at a time."

You don't have to have the perfect words.

Sometimes, feeling heard is far more helpful than being told to "stop."

💬 Has someone ever said something that actually helped when you were overthinking?

Share it in the comments—you might give someone else the words they need today.

📌 Save this post as a reminder: support doesn't always mean solving the problem. Sometimes it just means being there.

Revision tip:
Stop waiting to “feel ready.”
Most students don’t suddenly become motivated — they build momentum by starting small.
Done is better than perfect 💙
