📸 New Artist in Residence: Matt Gibbons at the Brontë Birthplace

We’re thrilled to welcome photographer Matt Gibbons as our newest Artist in Residence. Matt has been part of the Birthplace’s journey for years—documenting our renovation, capturing our opening months, and serving as the official photographer for our royal opening by Queen Camilla in 2025.

His new exhibition explores Thornton, Brontë Country, and the natural landscapes and wildlife of Yorkshire, and will be displayed in the Posh Parlour from 6 November to 18 December.

Join us for a private view on Friday 6 November, 6pm–8pm, with refreshments provided.

Exhibition entry is included with all guided and self‑guided tickets after the launch.

Join Margarette Hall at the Brontë Birthplace on Thursday 10 October at 7pm for an intimate evening of psychic demonstration held within the historic rooms where the Brontë story began.

Tickets are £18, with optional private readings available at the end of the evening for an additional fee.

A light supper will be provided.

This spooky walking tour will be led by local guide Adam and will journey through the haunted history and folklore of the village where the Brontë sisters were born 🎃

This walk is suitable for all ages, with storytelling that balances eerie intrigue and historical insight. Wrap up warm and join us for a spine‑tingling tour through Thornton’s darker tales ☠️

Inspired by Día de los Mu***os (Day of the Dead), our special Halloween Supper Club invites you to experience the historic Birthplace in a whole new light 🌶

This September, we held a pop-up exhibition to celebrate Heritage Open Days 2026 🏠

The exhibition followed the story of Master Butcher, Reginald Lovette, who ran a successful family butchers located in the Brontë Birthplace from 1936 to 1979 👨‍🍳

The exhibition will be running until Sunday, 20th of September at the Brontë Birthplace 🗓
