I did a late night interview with Ben Kentish on LBC radio last night.

I didn't get in everything that needed to be said but this is very normal for an interview.

One point that I made loud and clear is my serious concerns around the reckless promotion of the Room Maker scheme.

There is no warning of the fact that your home is at risk of repossession from this scheme if a legal charge is placed on your property and you cease fostering due to illness, a change in family circumstances, or an allegation/bullying from "professionals".

There's a lot of 'carrot dangling" out there at the moment, but a real lack of honesty about just how challenging the role of a foster carer is.

I made clear that it's a highly skilled role and needs to be recognised as such in recruitment drives.

When asked why there's not enough people coming forward I replied that the negative experiences of so many current and former foster carers shared on social media and in the press will make people think twice. As they should. We see utterly disgraceful mistreatment destroying life's all of the time.

It's our moral duty to warn others of the potential risk, because reckless, morally bankrupt recruitment campaigns are failing to do so.

One conflict of interest wasn't enough for the Fostering Network apparently.

Now they're going for a multi layered conflict of interest approach.

Normally funded by the services putting foster carers through hell.

Now also receiving government funding.

It will be interesting to see how they pretend to navigate this.

Will they have the balls to finally stand up for foster carers against malpractice and mistreatment?

Or will they implode trying to pick where their loyalties lie?

One things for certain.

Their paymasters will always come before foster carers.

This is why truly independent support cannot be funded by anyone with a conflict of interest.

Please don't end up with substandard support because it's "free".

Independent support for the price of a couple of coffees a month is the only way.

Have you seen the latest recruitment ploy?

Using empty seats in a football stadium.

Pretty appropriate if you ask me.

Why?

Because the people in those seats are transient.

They don't stay long and they need to be constantly replaced to keep the seats full.

We continue to see truly appalling mistreatment and malpractice.

Until this ends the government will never fill those seats because for every new carer through one door many more are going out through the exit door.

This is apparently a controversial opinion amongst some "professionals" but I will never accept that dragging a child kicking and screaming away from their foster carers when you state in writing that they have "provided excellent care" is anything but child abuse. I'm not bothered how you try and excuse it. How you try and dress it up as being in the child's best interests. It's emotional abuse and invariably the only "best interests" it serves is those callously dragging that child away.

It is morally bankrupt and I hope that we bring you all to justice.

Still think that it's all some sort of wild conspiracy theory?

That foster carers, birth parents, SEND parents/carers, and adopters are making up nonsense to hide their own failings?

I would have thought that too a decade ago.

But I've seen and continue to see absolutely shocking misconduct in public office and highly questionable behaviour from private fostering agencies.

We gather evidence.
We liase with solicitors and barristers.
We involve external regulatory bodies.

Because this HAS TO STOP.

No one should sit back comfortably and allow lives to be destroyed.

It's everyone's duty to stand up to corruption and misconduct.

I'm proud to be a part of this fight.
