In wet, cold and windy conditions, the boys made a fantastic start to the game. We moved the ball quickly, played some lovely intricate football, and broke through the lines with confidence to put us in a strong position early on.
As the half progressed, we took our foot off the gas and conceded sloppy goals, mainly from not clearing our lines when we had the chance and giving the opposition too much time and space around our area.
In the second half, we again started brightly and scored more excellent team goals, regaining a commanding lead. However, in the latter stages, our fitness and lack of game time began to show, allowing the opposition back into the match. Despite creating chances to win it in normal time, we just couldn’t find the final breakthrough.
The game went straight to penalties, and once again the boys showed great character securing the victory.
A brilliant effort from the boys today, especially considering the tough weather conditions. Great perseverance, teamwork, and mentality to keep going and get the win over the line.
