Bradford-Shipley Travel Alliance Reduce traffic, make moving about easier. Education, consultation and campaigning to influence current Bradford-Shipley transport plans.

For more comfortable travel, better air quality and less pollution of greenhouse gases. West Yorkshire Combined Authority plan to widen the roads between Bradford and Shipley to increase traffic capacity. BSTA wants those plans changed to include residents' concerns on health and climate, and has proposed alternative ways to spend £48m. We think the scheme is outdated and that Councillors have app

roved it without evidence on its impact. Currently seventeen organisations have affiliated to BSTA. Any individual can receive our newsletter by entering their email on the main page of www.bsta.org.uk. Our founding statement is:

"Any new road scheme between Bradford and Shipley must result in:
• Significantly improved air quality and safety in all residential areas affected by the proposed scheme, including for all schools.
• A response to the climate emergency including reduced carbon emissions, increased investment in public transport, walking and cycling, and less motor traffic overall. We request that no further consultation goes ahead without information that shows how the intended benefits of the scheme will be guaranteed."

About the Local Transport Plan

This is a plan that all Transport Authorities must develop and regularly renew for their area; it guides all transport policy and investment in the region.

The Local Transport Plan sets the strategic direction for the future of transport across West Yorkshire, as well as the policies and investment that will help us get there. The West Yorkshire Combined Authority (the Combined Authority) is responsible for bringing it together, working with the five local authorities of Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees, Leeds and Wakefield.
