NIVAL of Cultures

The CARNIVAL of Cultures will engage with the local community and encourage them to celebrate the creative cultural diversity of Bradford, through Music, Arts, Dance, Sports and World Foods. We will be engaging with local schools, community groups, voluntary organisations, council services, local businesses and tenants and residents associations of South Bradford. We will deliver a programme of multi-cultural arts, participatory and interactive activities facilitated by local community artists with a proven track record of delivering community based arts projects. The project will work with and engage local schools, youth groups and community groups to reflect and showcase the creativity and diversity that exist. Local people will be involved in designing and creating the Carnival Theme

We will support local people to discover and explore their artistic talents and creativity. We will deliver participation taster sessions and activities on the day to promote and encourage artistic development which will encompass a range of creative cultural arts performances and expression. The CARNIVAL of Cultures will provide opportunities for small scale outdoor performance productions with a Stage Show featuring local street acts, street dancing groups, cheerleading, majorettes and live performances by local bands, singers and rappers and performers, who will be given the opportunity to show case there talents. The CARNIVAL of Cultures will deliver opportunities for skills development and community capacity building through a range of opportunities including arts, volunteering, business, event management and planning, alongside confidence building and showcasing talent. Our participation, interaction and physical activities strands, aims to involve children, adults and families through a range of activities for all with structured activities to promote disability sports and participation events. Games and competitions running throughout the whole event will consist of competitions for 5 - 16 year olds, and an open age competition for youths and adults. Individuals can turn up on the day and register, and be allocated to a team. Volunteers will be involved in organising, officiating and scheduling of the competitions, working under supervision of experienced practioners to learn organisational skills taking responsibility for teams with younger participants. All competitions and games will be managed by CRB trained with nationally recognised relevant coaching qualifications
