16 intrepid walkers embarked on a hike to the Lake District. The age group couldn't have been more diverse with the oldest 70 years young and the youngest 15 years old.

After a scenic 2-hour drive through lovely widing country roads, we ended up at a small village called Ambleside.

We started our hike following a 2 hour pre planned gentle walk, covering what should have been 4km; but somehow, we got off track due to a lack of mobile network problems and ended up taking the wrong route. This error added another 4 km to our hike!!

Nevertheless, the group spirit was fantastic, with elders recalling past memories, spurring the less experienced to catch up; the sun shining, beautiful scenery, and fresh air.
After 5 hours of walking, we were ready for the return journey and a good sleep.

Lesson learnt, be prepared for the unexpected, good quality boots, and bring a sense of humour... looking forward to the next one.

A big thank you to our friends at Fairbank United for allowing us to use their minibus

Our Girlington Hiking Group

Last Sunday our hiking group embarked on the first walk to St Ives Bingley. Mashallah the weather held out and the scenery was stunning.

All the group really appreciated Our Girlington putting this initiative together for them to benefit from.
