British Dyslexia Association

British Dyslexia Association We are the voice of dyslexic people of all ages in the UK. The British Dyslexia Association is the voice for the 10% of the population that experience dyslexia.
(1)

We aim to influence government and other institutions to promote a dyslexia friendly society, that enables dyslexic people of all ages to reach their full potential. We campaign to encourage schools to work towards becoming dyslexia-friendly; to reduce the number of dyslexic young people in the criminal justice system; and to enable dyslexic people to achieve their potential in the workplace. The

British Dyslexia Association provides the only national helpline supporting tens of thousands of people each year. Working alongside our network of Local Dyslexia Associations, we support people of all ages from across the country.

Real change will take all of us.
Dyslexic people. Families. Schools. Employers. Policymakers. Partners. Supporters. Communities.

Our new strategy gives us a clear direction for the next four years, but we cannot deliver it alone.

Together, we can build greater understanding.
Together, we can challenge the barriers that hold dyslexic people back.
Together, we can help create a world that unlocks dyslexic potential.

The petition calling on the Government to protect Disabled Students' Allowance (DSA) funding for assistive technology has now surpassed 10,000 signatures.

DSA provides vital support that enables thousands of disabled students to access and succeed in higher education. Proposed changes could significantly reduce access to specialist support and equipment.

The petition remains open, so there is still time to sign and support the campaign: https://loom.ly/QoJk95U

One of the simplest ways to support dyslexic colleagues is to make communication clearer.

Consider:
- Sharing agendas before meetings
- Breaking long documents into shorter sections
- Using bullet points rather than dense text

These changes improve clarity for everyone, not just dyslexic employees.

Wondering whether dyslexia could be affecting you or your
child? Screening tools can provide an indication of strengths and
challenges, and may help you decide whether further support or a
full diagnostic assessment could be helpful.

The BDA is offering access to discount codes for suitable screening
tools for children and young people aged 5 to 16.
