The Community Association (JPCA) has hosted an annual pantomime at Jennett's Park Community Centre every year (except during COVID) since 2014.

Performed by Chaplins Panto, whilst a fee is charged by JPCA for entry no profit is every made for ticket sales, the Community Association has always subsidised attendance. Held annually at the end November/beginning January, we used to have ywo shows in an afternoon. In recent years attendance has dropped so we have only been able to offer a single show.

This year ticket sales have been very low, the Community Association will make a large loss. With just under a week to go we still have lots of tickets available - under 1's go free, it's £13 for under 18's and £15 for adults. Tickets can be purchased at https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/whats-on/bracknell/jennetts-park-community-Jennett's Park Community Centre

Sadly it looks like our 11 year run hosting a pantomime for tghe community may come to an end ths year.

Please support your local Community Centre - not just at Panto time. Without volunteers from the local community and guests attending events, functions and activities you may lose YOUR Community Centre.

Jennett's Park Community Association - there were comments earlier today on a post (on another JP related FP page) about the cancellation of the Community Association (JPCA) 'Annual General Meeting' and about what happens at an AGM?

JPCA is a registered charity and therefore has its own Constitution - this was agreed back in 2011. The Constitution says ...

"8. GENERAL MEETINGS OF THE ASSOCIATION

(a) Annual General Meetings:
Once in each calendar year an Annual General Meeting of the Association shall be held at such time and place as the Management Committee shall determine, being not more
than fifteen months after the adoption of this constitution and thereafter the holding of the preceding Annual General Meeting. The Secretary shall give at least twenty-one clear days notice of the Annual General Meeting shall be given individually to members or posted in a conspicuous place or places in the area of benefit and/or advertised in a newspaper circulating in the area of benefit.

The Chair of the Association shall be the chair of the Annual General Meeting but if he or she is not present, before any business is transacted, the persons present shall appoint a chair of the meeting.

The business of each Annual General Meeting shall be:

(i) to receive the Annual Report of the Management Committee, which shall incorporate the accounts of the Association referred to below, and give an account of the work of the Association and its activities during the preceding year;

(ii) to receive the accounts of the Association for the preceding financial year;

(iii) to elect the Honorary Officers of the Association in accordance with Clause 9 hereof;

(iv) to elect members to serve on the Management Committee, in accordance with Clause 10 (a) (ii) hereof;

(v) to appoint one or more qualified auditors or independent examiners for the coming year to audit or examine the accounts of the Association in accordance with the Charities Act 1993(or any statutory modification or re-enactment of that Act);

(vi) to consider any other business of which due notice has to be given."

The full constitution can be accessed athttps://c674d274-90c7-4c1e-8186-20ae0c57a3d1.filesusr.com/ugd/fdb8a7_7d9e3b6787a34a01baa1a0961523f125.pdf

Is it just a meeting to appoint people to a committee? In short, yes. But it is more than just that - accounts are approved, Executive Committee members appointed, Management Committee members appointed, committee roles (as needed) agreed. It essential is a meeting to review the previous year but also to have people/volunteers in place to plan for the forthcoming year.

The JPCA Executive and Managment Committees are responsible for the day-to-day running of our Community Centre in Tawny Owl Square. With the exception of two paid staff members, a contracted cleaner and a Centre Administrator, all other members are volunteers. There are a number of roles that must be filled, not just your usual Chair, Vice-Chair, Treasurer, Secretary, etc - JPCA needs volunteers that are able to help with opening and closing for weekend parties, etc - if there are no volunteers to help open and/or close then the centre cannot be used form 'occasional hire' - that's the general public, like you, that might wish to hold an event.

You can find more about the Community Association's constitution on the attached link. You can also visit the Charity Commission website to view the annual return that we are legally required to submit - these can be found at https://register-of-charities.charitycommission.gov.uk/en/charity-search/-/charity-details/5025956/governance

The date for the rescheduled AGM will be announced shortly and published on this page as well as the Community Association's own FB page

If you have any enquiries about the agm please email [email protected]. Any other enquiries for JPCA, the Community Association, please email [email protected]

Thank you

⚠️ The UK government is testing the Emergency Alerts system on Sunday 7 September 2025 at 3pm. Compatible mobile phones and tablets will receive an alert, make a loud siren-like sound and vibrate. You will not need to take any action.

The Emergency Alerts system is used to warn if there’s a danger to life nearby, including extreme weather. Regular testing ensures the system is functioning correctly, should it need to be used in a life-threatening emergency.

A UK-wide emergency alert test will take place on Sunday, 7 September 2025 at 3pm. Mobile phones will vibrate and emit a loud siren, even if they’re on silent mode.

Whilst these alerts aim to protect the public in emergencies, they could put victim-survivors of domestic abuse at risk, especially those who rely on hidden phones as part of their safety plan.

Please know, you CAN opt out of this test.

If you need to disable alerts for safety reasons, follow the steps on the GOV.UK website (linked in the first comment).
