My consort and I had the great pleasure of attending the recent concert by Bracknell Choral Society at Newbold College. The programme featured Dvořák’s Stabat Mater, beautifully performed with four soloists and accompanied by 16 musicians from the excellent British Sinfonietta.
This deeply moving work, reflecting on the grief of the Virgin Mary at the foot of the Cross, felt especially poignant as we approach Easter.
We were warmly welcomed by the Society’s Chair, Elizabeth Lank, and it was also a pleasure to see the Bracknell Forest Deputy Mayor, Cllr Peter Frewer, in attendance.
I have attended several concerts by the Society, all of which have been of a consistently high standard. They are a true credit to our town.
Their next concert—an evening of opera choruses and arias—will take place at Lambrook School on 10 July, and I highly recommend it.
