22/01/26: Burns Nicht supper dance. In celebration of Burns’ 267th birthday. Splendid evening spent with Caledonian Society members, friends and guests celebrating the life and works of Robbie Burns.
Commenced with address to the Haggis, followed by feast of Haggis, mashed neeps and champit tatties, plus traditional dessert. Then we were royally entertained with the Immortal Memory, beautiful singing, fun toasts to the Lassies and the Lads, followed by Scottish Country dancing, - which all made for a splendid evening of food, entertainment, dancing, and great camaraderie.
Huge thanks to the Council for organising, and all the members who participated in such a delightful evening.

Lovely, scenic walk from the Angel Inn, Ferndown, through part of Ferndown Common and around Longham Lakes; to be followed by a delish Christmassy lunch at the pub. An enjoyable walk and meal, with jolly, convivial company.

29/11/25. Decorating the Scottish Hall: Lovely morning today at the Cally with lovely folk. The Hall looks fantastically festive and ready for Christmas celebrations. Super company, plenty of cuppas and delish doughnuts- for which many thanks to Irene. ☕️🍩🎄🧑🏻‍🎄🎅🏼😃

27/11/25. St Andrew’s night at the Scottish Hall: Another excellent evening at the Cally, celebrating St Andrew’s Day.

Today with the Cally Walkers, a bracing 5 mile hilly walk from Burley - Holmsley Walk - Whitten Pond. Spectacular countryside, rather boggy and squidgy in places but nothing we couldn’t handle; and the weather was kind too, with no significant wind or rain. We stopped at 11am, and held 2 Minutes Silence in the peace and tranquility of the Forest, all with our own thoughts of Armistice Day and of the sacrifices of previous generations.
