โฝ As the World Cup kicks off and communities come together to enjoy the tournament, itโs important to remember that for some families, what happens behind closed doors can be very different.
Research has shown that major sporting events can be linked to an increase in domestic abuse incidents, leaving some parents and children facing fear, isolation and uncertainty at home.
Thatโs why we have launched our new Behind Closed Doors campaign, highlighting the struggles many local families face that often go unseen โ including domestic abuse, poor mental health, grief, financial pressures and the additional challenges of caring for a disabled child.
Last year, we supported 526 families across Dorset, providing compassionate, confidential and non-judgemental support through home visits and specialist groups. Our trained volunteers help parents build resilience, improve wellbeing and give children the best possible start in life.
Weโre also asking local employers to support the campaign by displaying our powerful posters behind workplace toilet doors โ helping raise awareness of the hidden challenges many people face and raising vital funds to continue our life-changing work. So if you could help get in touch.
Together, we can shine a light on what happens behind closed doors and ensure that no parent has to face their struggles alone.
