Since witnessing a fire that erupted across Holt Heath 9 August 2025, Annabel began to create images documenting the aftermath of the blaze. She explored the impact damaged shrubland had on the local wildlife, and symbolised the emotional distress felt by the community, heightened by evidence the fire was started deliberately, with a predicted 50- 70 years recovery time.
Annabel used analogue and alternative techniques to visualise the destructive embers that transformed the heath into an inhospitable, alien landscape. She discovered there is an unusual beauty in the decay compared to the untouched heathland...
