Coe and sons coming up to the 25 years anniversary of the company closing I think we were the oldest fruit and vegetable wholesalers in Bournemouth The shop was established in 1932 but the wholesale business was established in 1934 to 2000

Some of our customers we had the Waitrose contract Sainsbury’s and Tesco’s used to phone us up The body shop used bananas for their banana shampoo we used to deliver to monkey world and various hotels in Bournemouth and A lot of the fish and chip shops in Swanage. I certainly remember one hot summer taking four ton of spuds down to Swanage and delivering to the fish and chip shops we deliver to the silverfish I remember we delivered one ton of spuds to them it was down alleyway we did put it on our sack barrows but it seems to be easier going backwards and forwards putting them on our shoulders and delivering them at least at the end there was a can of Coke and a portion of chips really enjoyed helping out at Coe’s I do remember one time I think they’re trying to put me off can you sort through The potatoes and throwaway the rotten ones but really stink and Re-bag them ok next job and pick out the mouldy lemons and oranges I really enjoyed working and helping out there the best Job
