Domestic abuse can take many forms, including physical violence, coercive control, online intimidation, sexual abuse, threatening behaviour and emotional abuse.

Fleeing domestic abuse can lead to homelessness, so to support anyone who’s at risk, we have launched a new specialist support area on our website.

Developed in conjunction with multiple partners, the page ensures that anyone who is experiencing domestic abuse can find compassionate support and a safe place to stay in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole – with the added backup of national support services.

Please help to spread the word. Visit our new domestic abuse support area here: https://tinyurl.com/3jkbc4mj

With our partnership reaching an all-time high of 55 members, we’re taking a look at key achievements during 2024.

❄️ SWEP (Severe Weather Emergency Protocol) was activated four times last winter, providing emergency accommodation for more than 80 people who were sleeping rough in the BCP area.

👏 Crucially, 33 people remained in longer-term accommodation – testament to SWEP’s power to set people on the road to recovery.

Now, SWEP is being expanded this winter, including a new venue in Christchurch and extended provision at Routes to Roots in Poole (pictured).

📺 Today, BBC News is reporting that renting a newly let property is now £270 per month more expensive than at the end of the Covid-19 pandemic: https://tinyurl.com/fa92styz

📈 Nationally, the annual cost of renting has risen by 27% in the last three years, according to Zoopla, pushing up average rents to £1,270 a month – or £15,240 a year.

🏠 While the story claims rent rises are now slowing, high private rents in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole continue to place pressure on tenants’ finances.

🤝 Our tenancy experts at Let’s Talk Renting are pros when it comes to income maximisation, budgeting and negotiations with landlords to secure at-risk tenancies.

➡️ If you – or anyone you know – are struggling to afford their private rent, call Let’s Talk Renting today on 01202 985104 or register online for a free call-back at www.hpbcp.org/lets-talk-renting.
