💙 Extreme weather doesn't just happen in winter.

During the recent period of extreme heat, homelessness partners across BCP worked together to check on people sleeping rough, provide practical support and build trusted connections. 💙☀️

Thank you to everyone involved for helping ensure support was there when it was needed most. 🤝

As the Royal Foundation’s Homewards programme marks 3 years, we’re reflecting on what this partnership has achieved in BCP 💙
Working alongside 50+ local organisations, we’ve built a strong, collaborative approach focused on preventing youth homelessness 🤝

By bringing together housing providers, charities, health, education, businesses and community groups, we’re showing what’s possible when we share a clear vision and commitment 🌟

With support from The Royal Foundation, we’ve been able to test new ideas, challenge traditional approaches and strengthen how we work together 🔄

There’s real momentum building, and we’re continuing to grow and adapt 🚀

Together, we’re proving that ending homelessness is possible through early action and partnership 🏡

🏡 Everyone deserves a safe place to call home.

We’ve launched our new Homelessness & Rough Sleeping Strategy (2026–2031), focused on:

✅ Acting early
✅ Working together
✅ Supporting people before crisis hits

This means quicker support, simpler services, and better outcomes for residents across BCP ❤️

A new Coproduction Community has launched across BCP, bringing practitioners and experts by experience together to shape solutions side-by-side.

The first session focused on building trust, relationships and understanding - creating a safe and welcoming space for honest conversation.

With half of attendees being experts by experience, this work is about reducing barriers, challenging stigma and ensuring people are not defined by their experiences.

This is just the beginning 💚

When fewer than 1 in 10 hostels accept pets, people experiencing homelessness are often forced to choose between shelter and the companion who keeps them going. No one should face that choice.

Kim’s story shows what’s possible when services work together. With support from BCP Council, Routes to Roots Poole and the brilliant team at StreetVet, Kim and her much‑loved dogs, Mork and Mindy, have now moved into a permanent home, together.

Read more about Kim’s story, and how you can find support in the comments.
