It was an honour to have been Mayor of Bournemouth 2025-6 and I would like to thank the Mace bearers, the Democratic Services staff but most of than you the Residents, Schools, Care Homes, the many different Local Associations and other groups who invited me. to their events It was a pleasure and so interesting to see the many communities of Bournemouth and it is a year that I shall treasure for a long time.

Due to unforeseen 9 months of chemo therapy there were times when I was too ill to attend but the Deputy Mayor George Farquar was always able and very willing to go in my place. Thank you George. I think he will miss Mayoral events even more than me!!

I do hope after this year we will continue with having a Mayor of Bournemouth as it was so lovely to see people enjoying the tradition of seeing the chains and badge of office and in some cases the full red robes and hat. At the recent St George's parade I was amused by a cub shouting out "oh look a pirate!"

Regalia talks in the Mayor's Parlour gave residents a chance to see our heritage. I will never forget the completely covered Christmas Tree decorated by young carers or who thought giving 45 excited cubs and scouts chocolate biscuits was a good idea! Luckily the glass cases scrubbed up well!

Anyway thank you again for making this year so special.

The Deputy Mayor was honoured to represent Bournemouth and the Mayor at the recent event held by Poole, for Beating of the Land Bounds.

He met with the Mayor of Poole on the Beach at Branksome Dene Chine. The Deputy Mayor was also delighted to meet the guys from Shaka Surf, including Bodie and Ollie who were there for a surf lesson!

What a fantastic turnout for the Distinguished Gentleman's Ride yesterday. I was thrilled to wave the flag for the Bournemouth to Christchurch leg. Over 1000 bikes and so much tweed! Women with moustaches and crowds cheering the riders on. It was a fabulous event.
Distinguished Gentlemen's Ride is a global event with Bournemouth second in the world for fundraising. The event raises money for men's health especially Prostate Cancer. You can still donate. https://gentlemansride.com/
If you missed it this year look out for it next year.

The Pathfinders enjoyed the regalia talk last Saturday and a look at the Council Chamber. Good for youngsters to see and hear about some of Bournemouth's history. The Mayor's Parlour along with the Willows Room just show how stunning the Mont Dore hotel must have been.

Meeting Ben Ferns from the Bournemouth Scout Association for a St George's Day Celebration. The several hundred Scouts, Beavers, Squirrels, Sea Scouts, Explorer Scouts and others marched in glorious sunshine from the West Cliff to the Lower Gardens. Music was provided by Bournemouth Youth Marching Band and Bournemouth Carnival Band. Once in the gardens the different promises were read out for the different groups and then reaffirmed by making the Scout Sign.

Councillor Canavan and I attended the Indian Food Festival on Saturday. Lots of stalls selling interesting and colourful items including after dinner palate cleanser. Tried some delicious Indian food, watched the youngsters doing Bollywood dancing and handed out prizes to the best drawings. A lovely array of talent from the children.
