Another meaningful morning at Unique Hope.πŸ’œπŸ’›

It was so lovely to welcome more new faces including Mike Gilbert the deputy leader of the council to our coffee morning today and to share another space filled with connection, curiosity and open-minded conversation.

We had the privilege of listening to a doctor from CAMHS, gaining valuable insight into how services operate and the complexities involved in supporting children, young people and families.

Our discussion then turned to Ofsted. We explored how inspection frameworks are formed, the legal responsibilities and policies that schools must adhere to, and the significant demands this can place on teachers and school leaders. It offered valuable context behind the ratings that schools receive and encouraged us to look beyond headlines and consider the many competing pressures faced by those working in education.

As always, conversations were approached with kindness, respect and a genuine willingness to understand different perspectives. These discussions remind us that awareness often grows not from having all the answers, but from being willing to listen, learn and remain curious.

Thank you to everyone who joined us today and contributed to another enriching morning. We continue to be inspired by the openness, compassion and thoughtful conversations that make these gatherings so special.

Together we are building a community where understanding matters more than assumptions, and where learning never stops. πŸ’›πŸ’œ
Thank you to all the wonderful staff at the White Hart too who are always so helpful and accommodating πŸ’œπŸ’›

πŸ’œπŸ’› Coffee Morning Reminder πŸ’›πŸ’œ

Join us tomorrow at 10:00am at The White Hart for our parent and teacher coffee morning.

We are delighted to welcome a consultant from CAMHS who will be opening the session, followed by a discussion aimed at helping us better understand Ofsted and its role within education.

Whether you're a regular attendee or joining us for the first time, we look forward to welcoming you for a morning of calm, connection, conversation and understanding.

Our sessions are currently free to attend, however we are still in the early stages of securing funding. If you would like to support what we are building within our community, there will be a donation tin available, along with our bank details for anyone wishing to contribute.

Together, we're creating a space where parents, teachers and professionals can come together to learn, support one another and strengthen our community.

We look forward to seeing you there. πŸ’œπŸ’›

Tonight felt like a milestone for Unique Hope.πŸ’œπŸ’›

We finally got to show off our new banner and we are so grateful to Becky Wood for supporting us with that. Small acts of support help bring big visions to life.

This evening we welcomed education staff into a space built on honesty, lived experience, and open conversation. What unfolded was powerful. Parents delivering a session on the reality of burnout. Professionals listening with open minds. Ideas exchanged without judgement. Conversations rooted in understanding rather than blame.

Every classroom is different. Every child is different. Different ages, different personalities, different needs, different life experiences…… Unique ……There is no one-size-fits-all approach to supporting young people , but kindness and compassion cost nothing, and they can change everything. Regulated, understood children are far more able to learn, connect, and thrive.

We may not always agree on every approach, and sometimes growth comes from being willing to sit with different opinions and perspectives. But underneath it all, we all want the same thing, harmony, safety, connection, and better outcomes for our children and young people.

Tonight reminded us that real change begins when people come together, listen properly, and dare to have the conversations that matter.

The seeds are being planted. 🌱

I recently had one of those days where frustration with β€œthe system” got the better of me, so I decided to write to my MP. I honestly wasn’t expecting much back, so I was pleasantly surprised when he replied and offered to come and discuss my concerns in person.

My original email focused on eating disorders, but what followed was an hour and a half conversation covering the NHS, the education system, social media, and society in general. I was quite heartened that we agreed on more than I’d anticipated and I hope some of the conversations gave a different perspective from the frontline experiences of parents, professionals and young people.

What mattered most was being heard.

He has agreed to come back and continue the conversation with other stakeholders because real change happens when people are willing to listen, collaborate and challenge the systems that are no longer working.

Change doesn’t come from staying silent.Change doesn’t come from angry social media posts.Change comes when people are prepared to stand up, speak honestly and fight for what they believe in.

Making life easier for parents, teachers and young people is what we hope to achieve.

Watch this space … we really do want to make changes that support teachers and parents πŸ’œπŸ’›

As Unique Hope CIC continues to grow, we are currently working with an external company to ensure all of our paperwork and legal requirements are completed correctly and professionally.
As part of this process, we are required to formally share that we are updating and adding to our CIC objectives. These changes simply reflect the work we are already doing within the community supporting wellbeing, creating safe spaces and helping people feel less alone.
This is not a change in who we are, but a clearer reflection of our purpose and future vision. We have sought professional advice on which structure would best support what we are creating, and for the time being, a CIC has been identified as the most suitable route rather than becoming a charity for the time being.
Importantly, our vision remains the same and we still intend to offer support, community spaces and services as accessibly and freely as possible wherever we can.
Our updated objectives include:

(a) To promote the emotional wellbeing and resilience of parents/carers, teachers and individuals by creating safe, supportive and non-judgemental spaces that encourage connection, community and collaboration. The Company will provide guidance, emotional support, signposting, advocacy and access to information and support networks, helping people feel heard, understood and less alone, whilst fostering positive relationships within families, schools and the wider community.
(b) To engage in activities which support the Company’s objectives and benefit the wider community within the areas we serve.
Thank you for continuing to support Unique Hope CIC …. Please message if you have any queries πŸ’œπŸ’›

πŸ’›πŸ’œ Feedback from our coffee mornings highlighted that specific workshops would be really helpful… so tonight Jo and Katie delivered a powerful session on Burnout.
This wasn’t something read from a textbook it came from mums, from the heart, from lived experience. Sharing stories that genuinely made people connect.
As a lecturer and counsellor, it was fantastic learning for me personally and professionally. The kind of workshop that leaves you reflecting long after it’s finished.
We also had some really valuable parent discussions, with opportunities to signpost, support and advise one another.
A huge thank you to everyone who came and contributed to such an honest and supportive evening πŸ’›πŸ’œ
Next week is for teachers and we would love to see different schools connecting πŸ’›πŸ’œ

πŸ’œπŸ’›Burnout in both adults and children is very real.

Sometimes it can look like laziness, defiance or depression, when in reality it can be overwhelm, overstimulation and a nervous system struggling to cope.
The pressure from society, social media and the β€œback in our day” mindset can make people feel even more misunderstood.

This is not bad parenting and it is not about excuses it’s about understanding the brain, body and central nervous system with more compassion.

At Unique Hope we want to help make this easier to understand for families in a safe, kind and non-judgemental space.

We are holding a FREE workshop this Wednesday at 5pm in South Square and currently have 4 spaces left.

Please message us if you feel this could help πŸ’›πŸ’œ
