Boston Foodbank

Boston Foodbank We don’t think anyone in our community should have to face going hungry. We are part of a nationwide network of Foodbanks.

That’s why we provide nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to us in crisis.

The Foodbank is in real need of donations. Since Christmas, the donations to the Foodbank have reduced substantially, but the demand from people in need has increased. So far this month we have given out nearly a tonne more food than we have received in donations. We are now out of milk, tinned fruit, tinned meat and breakfast cereals. We also have very few toiletries to give to people in need. If you can spare these products please donate them and help the people in need in our Community.

The Foodbank is getting the builders in!

Over the next few weeks, we are having some building work done to change how the people that use the Foodbank access the building. Instead of having to wait outside the front door, whatever the weather, there will be a waiting room, where people can wait in comfort out of the rain.

While the building work is taking place, we will continue to provide food to people in need in our Community. We will still be open and will see people in the Blenkin Memorial Hall, just across the road instead. There will be signage and people available to make sure everyone knows where to go.

We're sorry for any inconvenience this might cause, but are looking forward to how much better the Foodbank will be once the work is completed.

It was great to collect donations this week from Carlton Road Academy and the cafe at RSPB Frampton Marsh. These donations will go a long way to help people in need over the Christmas period. Over the last week, the Foodbank has distributed over 3/4 tonne of food to people in need in our Community.

Without your donations, we could not continue to help those in need in our Community. Thank you.

Disturbing statistics from Trussell. Our food bank is so grateful to all our supporters.

Do you have spare egg boxes?

At the Foodbank we receive from local supermarkets a large number of eggs that are about to go out of date. We distribute them to users of the Foodbank and other people in our community in need. But they come in large boxes, often of 15 or 24 eggs each. If we were able to split them into boxes of half a dozen each, we could provide them to more households in need.

Please donate your used half dozen egg boxes to the Foodbank. You can leave them on the table at the back of the Church, by the gates to the Refectory. Thank you

We've had an amazing three days at Boston Tesco Superstore, undertaking the annual Trussell Trust Food Drive. We've been assisted by our friends from HSBC, Boston Branch and the beavers, cubs and scouts of 5th Boston Scout Group. Over the three days we collected an amazing 1.4 tonnes of food and toiletries, generously donated by the people of Boston. At the end of session we were visited by our local MP Richard Tice, who was keen to understand just how important the Foodbank is in our Community. A massive thanks to all our volunteers, our friends who helped, Tesco's for hosting us and most of all the people of Boston. You have all made a huge difference.
