🌸 Today’s Gardening and Community Clean-Up Update 🌸

The first photo shows the area at the top of Bond Street, a space that Mike has cared for over many years. Thanks to his dedication, it is filled with colourful flowers and even features a delightful topiary squirrel šŸæļø.

Today, Dave and Robert worked on George Street, where Dave edged the pathway while Robert planted some of the donated plants received last week.

Meanwhile, Leanne and Charlie were busy on Liquorpond Street, carrying out w**ding and planting additional donated plants to help brighten the area.

The team also spent time litter-picking throughout the area to help keep our streets clean and welcoming for everyone.

Today we have taken advantage of the dry weather to get all the woodwork treated at The Friendly Bench.

We also received a lovely donation of plants from Charlie’s mum. Some have already been planted at the bench, where Robert waters them daily, and the rest will be planted next week at Liquorpond Street when the weather is a little cooler.

Over the last two weeks the team has been busy helping to keep the area looking its best.

Last week, Robert carried out a litter pick around George Street, while Mike tackled the bindw**d along Liquorpond Street.

This week, with the full team back together, we have managed to get a lot of w**ding completed across the area. It has been great to make such good progress and even better to see the flowers beginning to bloom.

Today we were back at Fountain Lane Garden building a dead hedge, it isn’t completed as it will be added to with more pruning’s as time goes on.

It’s a beautiful, natural way to screen our compost heap while also creating a rich habitat for wildlife. Over time, it’ll become a haven for insects, birds, and small animals—turning something simple into something full of life.

Charlie has watered the native wildflower seeds we sowed last week.

Planting native wildflowers is one of the best ways to support pollinators, and it’s always satisfying when you can already see things coming up. Ornamental Onion (often related to alliums) is great for bees, while Anchusa officinalis—also known as common bugloss—has those vivid blue flowers that pollinators love. Hedge Woundwort is another excellent find; it’s a bit underrated but really valuable.

Do you know where we have been? Where is this hidden gem in Boston ?

Today we reflected on just how much the Liquorpond Raised Beds have changed since we first started working on them in January 2024 🌱

Back then, every visit meant clearing at least a full bag of litter. Now, it’s down to just a few cans — a huge improvement and a testament to consistent care and community effort.

Over time, the large overgrown shrubs have been cut back, making space for new bedding plants and colourful flowering shrubs. The area is really starting to come to life!

We’re not stopping here — the goal is to keep adding even more colour and variety with new plants and shrubs 🌸

Today we visited M & R Leverton Horticultural Nurseries, where Rachel gave us helpful advice on selecting plants for George Street.

We then carried out planting and w**ding on George Street, while Liquorpond Street had already been w**ded earlier in the week.

We also stopped by The Friendly Bench, which Robert is currently taking care of.

A litter pick of the whole area done with very little litter to find today 😊

A lovely day to be part of the Wyberton Wombles Big Borough Spring Clean šŸŒ±šŸ’š

With a fantastic team of nine, we covered:
• Haven Riverside up to Metsa
• Windsor Bank, including Tower Road and Freiston Road
• Woad Farm Road, Kingsway and Fishtoft Road
• Tower Street along Witham Bank

Great teamwork, fresh air, and a real difference made to our local environment. Every bag collected counts! šŸ™Œā™»ļø
