RAFA Boston Branch Boston and District Branch of RAFA The RAF Association is the charity that supports the RAF family.

As the largest single Service membership and welfare organisation, we are currently unique in our area of operation. We are:
• The only member-led welfare charity that supports the RAF family.
• Incorporated as a company by Royal Charter, with HM The Queen as Patron. HRH The Duke of Edinburgh and HRH The Prince of Wales have both served as President and Flt Lt HRH The Duke of Cambridge is a member

of the Association. This helps us to establish our credibility and attracting key influencers.
• Registered as a charity in the UK .
• Providing friendship and support to full and associate members and the wider RAF family via our world-wide Branch and Area structure.

Could you be a volunteer with the Air Force Cadets? All that we ask of you when you join us is that you:

Be aged 20 years or more (minimum age for CCF RAF is 18 years. Uniformed officers serve up to age 65) have lived in the UK for a minimum of 3 years commit to a certain number of hours each week (around 12 hours a month)
understand young people and their needs be patient, responsible and kind

It is with much sadness that we inform everyone that a longstanding Member of the Boston & District RAFA Branch, Ralph Ottey aged 102 has died. We thank his daughter, Lesley Morrison for providing this lovely photograph of Ralph aged 19 or 20 taken when he arrived in the UK from Jamaica to join the RAF.

Please note that Ralph’s Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, 11 June @ The Centenary Church, Red Lion Street, Boston commencing 11.30 ~ everyone welcome.

Highly recommend attending, you’ll probably experience activities you may never have had before, meet new friends and come back feeling more confident and able (at least I did) 🥳🙏call and talk to the help line about when you could go for a week of great food & accommodation.

Join us to remember the brave Polish airmen who defended our freedom in 1944!

CHAILEY AIRFIELD MEMORIAL SERVICE
Sunday 14th June 2026 Start time – 3.00 p.m.

Sussex County Royal British Legion, together with Chailey Airfield Memorial Committee, cordially invite you to our annual Chailey Airfield Memorial Service.

The service commemorates all those men and women who served in the armed forces at RAF Chailey; in particular, those of the three Polish Spitfire squadrons that provided air cover for the D-Day landings in June 1944.

The service will commence at 3.00p.m. at the Airfield Memorial, situated at The Plough Inn public
house on the northern outskirts of Plumpton village, Plumpton Green, Lewes East Sussex BN7 3DF.

All veterans organisation Standards are welcome. Please ask your Standard Bearer to be ready to Parade at 2.30 p.m and let us know if your Standard will be attending.

The delightful Plough Inn offers a great quality lunch menu and we recommend booking in advance for the day.

Car parking is limited, however the field adjoining the pub will be available for parking. Please be aware that the ground is uneven and cars are parked there at the owner’s risk.
