🌟 TBBT Turns Ten 🌟

This September, The Bread and Butter Thing turns 10!

On Wednesday 9th September we will be celebrating πŸ₯³

When TBBT joined our hub in February 2023 we were delighted!

Not only being the first hub in the whole of the East Midlands to offer such a service but we also felt proud to be able to facilitate such a wonderful service for our local community πŸ₯°

We hope you will come along, eat cake and help us celebrate such a fantastic service 😁

Enjoy a few pictures from throughout the years of TBBT at Old Leake.

As always we are incredibly lucky to have such a wonderful bunch of hard working volunteers who without them, none of what we do could happen πŸ’œ

If you would like more information about the service please get in touch...Or even better, pop along to the hub and see what it's all about 😊

🌟 Wonderful Wednesdays 🌟

No, I haven't lost the plot..I know it's only Sunday... playing catch up πŸ€ͺ

A few weeks ago we had a fabulous visit from Emma and Al from Boston Borough Council which was very informative.
They went through our existing refuse collections and here is a reminder of some things they mentioned:-

General Waste -

This is taken to a waste plant and burnt for electricity NOTHING GOES TO LANDFILL ANYMORE.
Soft plastics are okay but they can be taken to supermarkets (Old Leake Co-op has this facility)
Shredded paper must be bagged and put into the General Waste it cannot go into the Paper/Card Waste as it needs to be dealt with differently
Please put tissues and takeaway plastic containers in the general waste bin too.

Paper/Card Waste -

No need to rip off plastic windows from envelopes
No need to remove staples from magazines
No tissues or books please
No paper with glitter (wrapping paper, cards etc)
No pringle boxes please as they have a silver lining

Recycling Waste -

Clean, dry waste please
Please keep lids on plastic bottles
No soft plastic please (General Waste or to a supermarket who collects these - Old Leake Co-op has this facility)
No clothes - there are specific bins for these (Old Leake Co-Op have a clothes bin in the car park for the Salvation Army, other bins are available!)
No black or brown food containers please these should be put in the General Waste.
No need to take labels off tins (this is something I have always done but no more!)

New Food Waste Bins -

2 caddies will be received on 29 June (a small caddy for the kitchen and a larger one for outside collection)
When we receive the new bins we will also receive some bags. When these bags run out, there is no need to buy any special bags from the supermarket you can use any bag (including bread bags or newspaper if it's more convenient)
The outside caddy will be collected by Boston Borough Council EVERY WEEK.
The contents will be sent to a bio-digester plant for energy and to make fertiliser.
Left over food, scrappings off plates, pet food, teabags, egg shells, bones etc can be placed into the caddy
The collection of the new Food Waste caddy will not take place UNTIL SEPTEMBER.
Please do not start filling your caddy until a week before the collection (Boston Borough Council will advise us when this new service will start).

I hope this information is useful to everyone, we certainly enjoyed the presentation at the Hub and are grateful to the council for visiting 😊

🌟 Wonderful Wednesday 🌟

Another year and another fabulous VE day celebration at the hub 😊

Huge thank you to Walter for organising such a wonderful event.

Inspire-Lincs were the best helpers as always. Setting out tables, chairs, creating handmade banners and of course always bringing their amazing enthusiasm 🀩

Thanks also go to David for erecting the bunting and Old Leake Community Centre for their continued support 😊

As you know, we have the best bunch of volunteers. This week they prepped, cooked and served delicious bangers and mash and crumble for pudding πŸ˜‹

It was another special day with our lovely hubbers πŸ₯°

Everyone is welcome... please come along and join in the fun πŸ’œ
