What does it mean to be grounded?

To grow deep roots.
To belong.
To be shaped, slowly and quietly, by place, people and presence.

This week’s poem from Caroline Bailey reflects on the Benedictine vow of Stability and invites us to pause long enough to notice the life already growing around us.

This Sunday we’ll be gathering around a beautiful communion liturgy inspired by the story of Saint Brendan, who set out into the vast unknown of the sea with a simple prayer:

“Christ of the mysteries, can I trust You on the sea?”

Together we’ll explore the story of Abram’s call in Genesis 12:1–9 and reflect on what it means to trust God, leave the familiar behind and step into the unknown.

As we share communion together, we’ll be invited to consider where God may be calling us to trust, journey and discover a deeper sense of home in Christ.

We can’t wait to see you there.

Can art help us see the story of Jesus differently?

On Saturday 25th July we’re delighted to welcome Jake Lloyd to Tubestation for The Word Made Paint.

A former BBC journalist, writer and speaker, Jake explores the fascinating meeting point between art, faith and life’s big questions. Through six extraordinary artworks, he’ll take us on a visual journey through the story of Jesus — uncovering fresh insights along the way.

Whether you love art, are curious about faith, or simply enjoy seeing familiar things from a new perspective, we’d love you to join us. Save the date.

This week’s poem by Caroline Bailey is Conversion.

Inspired by the Benedictine vow of conversion of life, this poem explores the courage to keep choosing transformation. Not a single moment of change, but a lifelong turning towards God, growth and deeper freedom.

What if the treasure we’re seeking lies just beneath the surface? What if the leap of faith reveals more beauty than we imagined?

This Sunday, Pauline will be helping us explore the question:

“What is God doing now, and how can we join Him?”

As we celebrate all God has done, we’ll also be looking ahead to where God is at work in our community today and how we can be part of it

After the service, stay for our Bring & Share Picnic & Tube Community Time — a great chance to connect, share food, and enjoy time together.

Or, if the weather’s a bit rubbish, we’ll bring the picnic indoors. If you haven’t discovered it yet, the Tube is a pretty great place to hang out!

Obedience — Following the Call

Perhaps obedience is not about force or fear, but about listening deeply enough to hear the melody beneath the noise.

This poem feels like an invitation —
to trust the currents,
to follow the whisper,
to step slowly into deeper waters one sandy step at a time.

Poem by Caroline Bailey.

The final poem in the “I’m Going to Start Living Like…” series

I’m Going to Start Living Like a Mystic is an invitation to loosen our grip a little… to drift, wonder, listen, notice, and follow the deeper currents of grace.

To stop needing to have all the answers.
To become more awake to mystery.
To find God not only in certainty, but in sea spray, starlight, movement, beauty, silence, and the unfolding journey itself.

Perhaps living like a mystic is simply learning to stay open —
to awe,
to presence,
to love,
and to the possibility that there is always more to discover.

Poem by Caroline Bailey.
