Anglia Region & Hertfordshire's only Jewish Girl Guide & Ranger Joint Unit, recruiting from all the Brownie Guide Packs in the County's Synagogues and also from across the whole Girlguiding District of Elstree & Borehamwood . We offer a traditional yet modern and fresh approach to both the Guide & Senior Section programmes within a modern Orthodox Jewish environment, offering girls of 10+ and 14+
a place to have make their own fun and new friends locally and from across the world. We usually meet in the Gilah Hall of Borehamwood United Synagogue on Monday evenings from 7.00-8.30pm during term-time, immediately after 4th Borehamwood Brownies have finished their session. We cater for both the Guide Section (10-14), and the Ranger & Young Leader Section (14-18) in all its various forms, such as Young Leaders, Peer Educators, Ranger Guides and Duke of Edinburgh candidates. We run the whole programme as seen on the main Girguiding website www.girlguiding.org.uk, encouraging the girls to work together in small groups to make their own fun, with our Promise at the centre of everything that we do. The Programme Themes are "Know Myself", "Express Myself", "Be Well", "Have Adventures", "Take Action" and "Skills For My Future" for both Guides & Rangers, building on what they've already acheived in both Rainbows and Brownies. We usually spend every summer out of doors after half term so that the Guides can have a camp experience, even if they can't manage to get to camp themselves. Girls of all abilities are more than welcome and no previous Guiding experience (Rainbows or Brownies) is necessary, just a willingness to join in. We aim to camp at least once a year, either with the UK's other Jewish Guide & Scout groups, the wider multi faith Guiding community at County, Regional, national and international events held locally, or on our own. These camps could be held here in the UK or even in mainland Europe.
