A new call is being made for volunteers to become community councillors in Falkirk after recent nominations failed to get enough interest.

Bonnybridge Community Council (BCC) is now on hold due to the Community Council Elections.

We are looking for volunteers to fill up to 8 places. The nomination process has been extended to 09 December 2022 with places filled on a first come first served basis. See:

As you may know, local community councils are seeking new volunteer councillors. We are governed by Falkirk Council but WE ARE NOT THE COUNCIL. we are an independent group of volunteers that have worked tirelessly over these past few years to improve Bonnybridge. We come from differing backgrounds but share a passion to make the place we live as beautiful and as welcoming as possible. Some highlights have been:
New all access play equipment for Jennys Park
Xmas lights
Improving our local gardens
Litter picks
Improved road signs to welcome residents and visitors to our village
We support residents to tackle issues important to them

All of this has been done through the awarding of grants or funding from other sources. Local businesses and residents have also supported us consistently, and without all of this support we would never have achieved so much.

Now, it is time for fresh blood. A number of us are calling it a day (mostly due to personal or work commitments). We need office bearers, including a convener, vice-convener, treasurer and secretary. These roles rely on the person attending formal meetings, liaising with Falkirk Council officials, meeting with other community councils, maintaining the bank account, minute taking etc. So volunteering does take some dedication but the rewards are worth it.
Apply via Falkirk Council and make a real difference to your local community. We are non-political although we encourage elected councillors from Falkirk Council to attend regularly to hear the real issues affecting us.
