Get a £25 voucher in return for completing the Shaping Active Places survey 🤸

Sport England are researching how people living in Bolton view community physical activity programmes in their local area, and how these programmes could better reach and support people who aren't currently taking part.

Taking part will look like an informal one-to-one chat, followed by an informal group session to share ideas on how to make local activity programmes feel more accessible, welcoming, and relevant.

Our Enabling Connections service matches an isolated older person with a trained volunteer.

💙 As an Enabling Connections volunteer, you'll be matched with an older person based on interests and location.

📋 We'll make sure you have the necessary skills and training to support them over six months.

🤝 You'll then help your match to regain confidence, meet their goals and get back out into the community.

We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of long-serving Bolton councillor and mayor David Chadwick.

David was always a supportive and friendly presence for older people, during his time as mayor of Bolton and beyond.

He made sure to attend as many community events as possible with older people in mind, and put a smile on the face of many at our International Day of Older People's celebration at the mayor's parlour.

Rest in peace David - our thoughts are with your wife Val and the rest of your family at this difficult time. 🕊️💙

Renato joined Age UK Bolton as a volunteer whilst studying his A Levels, as a way to build confidence before starting university.

Over his time as a reception volunteer, Renato has not only grown in confidence, but found that his communication skills have improved.

"I've learned the importance of adapting my communication methods to fit people of different capabilities", he said.
