Our Young Carers recently took part in an exciting 3-day photography project with Create Charity, and what an amazing experience it was! Throughout the project, they explored a range of creative activities, including making anime videos, plasticine modelling, creating artwork from recycled materials, team-building exercises, learning photography techniques, and designing photo collages inspired by David Hockney.

The young people thoroughly enjoyed every moment, developing new skills, building confidence, and expressing their creativity. It has been wonderful to see them step away from their caring responsibilities and home environment to take part in activities they enjoy. A huge thank you to Create Charity for providing such a memorable and inspiring opportunity!

As Volunteers Week 2026 comes to a close, we wanted to shine a light on some of the amazing people who give their time to BLGC and hear why they do what they do 💙

Quite simply, we couldn’t do this without them.

Our volunteers help create opportunities, support activities, build relationships and make sure more children and young people across Bolton have somewhere safe to go, positive things to do and people that care.

The time, energy and kindness they give genuinely changes lives.

If you’d like to get involved and find out more about volunteering at BLGC, visit www.blgc.co.uk or email [email protected]

To our incredible Young Carer volunteers – thank you. 💙

For many young carers, life can be full of responsibilities that most young people never have to think about.

Because of you, they’ve had the chance to switch off, have fun, try new things, make friends and just be young people.

Thank you for giving your time, your energy and your kindness. For listening, encouraging and creating moments that help young carers feel valued, supported and understood.

The impact you make goes far beyond a session, a trip or an activity. You help create memories, confidence and connections that last long after the day is over.

We couldn't do it without you.

🚴‍♂️ This World Bicycle Day, we're celebrating Brandon Pilling and an incredible team of cyclists taking on an epic challenge in support of BLGC.

This year they'll be flying into Nice before tackling some of the highest mountains in the region. Over just 8 days, they'll cover an astonishing 574 miles, and climb more than 60,000 ft, averaging over 100 ft of climbing for every mile ridden.

It's a huge test of endurance, determination and resilience, all to help support children and young people across our community.

Good luck to everyone taking part, we're incredibly grateful for your support and can't wait to follow your journey.

Is it really only a week since Fight at the Club? 🥊

What a night.

The atmosphere. The energy. The bravery from every single boxer stepping into the ring.

Here’s just a little flavour of what was an absolutely brilliant evening at BLGC 💙

We’re incredibly proud to share that BLGC has been nominated for the 2026 EY Foundation Impact Awards in the Northern Employer Partner of the Year category 🎉

The awards recognise organisations making a real difference to young people from low-income backgrounds through employability support, mentoring, volunteering and work experience opportunities.

At BLGC, creating opportunities and raising aspirations for young people is at the heart of everything we do, so to be recognised alongside so many inspiring organisations is a huge honour.

A massive thank you to the EY Foundation and to all of the staff, volunteers, partners and supporters who help make opportunities possible for young people every single day 💙

Wishing Muslims from our community and around the world a very happy and blessed Eid al-Adha!
