Each week, BLGC deliver a wide range of programmes to young people ranging from recreational opportunities, performing arts and a diverse range of sporting activities. The Club also provides intensive support, guidance and training for young people through our award winning mentoring scheme. Through a wide variety of activities and services designed to meet their needs, the Club offers young peop

le a safe space to come and be themselves, try out new activities, develop positive friendships and build relationships.

🎒 Getting ready to go back to school!

A huge thank you to the JD Foundation for donating a brilliant selection of back-to-school essentials for our young people. 💙

From notebooks and pens to calculators, water bottles, highlighters and more, these items will help make sure our young people have what they need to start the new school year feeling prepared and ready to go.

With September just around the corner, support like this can make a real difference to young people and their families.

💙 What a summer it’s been for our Young Carers!

This week marked the final week of our Young Carers summer programme, and they certainly made the most of it.

From volleyball and watercolour painting to making their own burgers, playing Perudo and enjoying a McDonald’s together, there’s been plenty of fun to finish off a brilliant few weeks. 🍔🎨🏐

But more importantly, this summer has given our Young Carers time to relax, spend time with friends, try new things and simply enjoy being young people.

One of our young people even took the time to write some lovely feedback about their experience, which made the perfect end to the programme. 💙

A huge thank you to everyone who has helped make this summer so special for our Young Carers. We hope you’ve made plenty of memories along the way!

On Track offers flexible, 1-to-1 employability support for young people aged 16–25, helping them build the confidence, skills and experience they need to move towards work.

Working with one of our Employability Coaches, young people can:

🎨💙 Just look at what our Young Carers have created!

Over the last few weeks, they've been working with the brilliant Create charity team, trying their hand at sewing, spray painting, fabric painting, designing tote bags and lots more.

Yesterday was their chance to show off everything they'd made, and there were some VERY proud young people in the room. 🙌

Here's what they thought...

💬 "I enjoyed sewing and working with different mediums."
💬 "I've enjoyed making the tote bags and being creative."
💬 "I enjoyed doing different things like spray painting."
💬 "I enjoyed painting on the fabric."

And they weren't the only ones impressed!

🪨 Digging into a little bit of local history! ⛏️

Our Holiday Club young people swapped the Club for the great outdoors as they joined the National Trust for an archaeological dig at Two Lads Cairns.

They got stuck in discovering the history of the area, searching for hidden treasures and learning all about rocks and the local landscape along the way.

A brilliant opportunity to get outdoors, try something completely different and discover a little more about the history right on our doorstep. 💙

A huge thank you to the National Trust for giving our young people such a memorable experience!

💙 Good luck to everyone getting their results!

Whether you're opening your results tomorrow or getting ready for them later this week, remember that a set of grades doesn't define you or what you're capable of.

Whatever that envelope or screen says, there are so many different routes to get where you want to be. Your next step is just that... a next step. 🌟

Be proud of how far you've come, celebrate what you've achieved and remember there's plenty more ahead.

💙 Putting young people in the driving seat.

This afternoon, three of our young people headed to Youth Zone to take part in a brilliant Youth Matters Fund Workshop, thanks to an invitation from Social Investment Business (SIB).

The session gave young people the chance to take control of their own youth services, deciding how funding should be spent, making some tricky compromises and working together to make sure everyone was included.

It was a fun, interactive way to experience what goes into making real decisions and, most importantly, made sure young people's voices were at the heart of them. 🙌

A huge thank you to SIB for the invitation and for their continued support of BLGC, including funding our sensory space through the Better Youth Spaces Fund.
