Bolton is experiencing a culture and leisure renaissance — and the Octagon Theatre Trust, on behalf of The Fabric of Bolton consortium, are looking for a leader who can help take it even further.
A brand‑new opportunity is open to become the Programme Director for Bolton’s Creative People & Places programme, a major partnership project funded by Arts Council England.
This is a chance to shape something transformative: the Fabric of Bolton is a £1 million project, which over the next three years aims to bring together the communities, stories, landscapes, and unique character of Bolton into a vibrant mix of creative activities.
This role is perfect for someone who believes, like we do, that Bolton is Born to Perform — a place where creativity runs deep, success is in our DNA, and local people have the talent, ideas and ambition to shape their own cultural future.
As Programme Director, you’ll lead a bold, collaborative movement that will:
⭐ Champion community‑led creativity across every neighbourhood
⭐ Support people to develop and deliver their own artistic ideas
⭐ Celebrate Bolton’s identity, stories and cultural heritage
⭐ Strengthen partnerships across the town — reflecting our ambition to be a place that is truly better connected
This is a rare chance to help write the next chapter of Bolton’s cultural story — and to lead a programme that will make a lasting difference to how people experience creativity in their town.
If you’re ready to help shape a place with no limits, where culture belongs to everyone, apply by 9am Monday 15 June 2026.
