MhIST have been providing support in the community since 1992 in a safe and friendly environment MhIST is a charity and company limited by guarantee.

It is led by an executive committee with extensive experience of the mental health sector and mental health service users. The organisation has several paid staff and most of the services are actually provided by a large number of trained volunteers. Importantly, MhIST has and continues to develop mental health services that are well respected both in the community and by statutory service provide

rs alike. MhIST offers advocacy, counselling, self-help groups for depression, anxiety, self-esteem amongst others. Also a craft and social afternoon. The Walk of Hope team invites you to join us on Monday 15th June 2026 for a short community walk in support of su***de awareness and prevention.

📍 Meeting point: Bolton Town Hall steps, near The Coffee House
🕛 Time: 12pm
🚶 Walk length: Approximately 1.5km

This Carers Week, we’re proud to be out in the community at the Bolton Carers Support Who Cares? event! 💙

Information stalls packed with brilliant local support, there was a lovely energy in the air as people connected, shared, and celebrated the incredible work happening across Bolton.

A real highlight was our very own Bryn from MhIST being nominated and receiving a Special Recognition Award for helping to build carer-friendly communities, huge congratulations 🎉

On Wednesday 10th June, Bolton Carers Support is hosting a special Information Day & Who Cares? Awards Celebration at Thicketford Centre.

🏅 What an incredible achievement! Huge congratulations to Nicola Halsall! 🏅

From dreaming about it to actually crossing that iconic London Marathon finish line, Nicola did it! 💖
In her own words:
“I DID IT!!! Dreams really do come true!! What an absolutely incredible experience!! Words can’t describe the feeling. It was such an electric atmosphere!!”

Running for MhIST along with her group Burnden Road Runners, Nicola took on the 2026 London Marathon in an unforgettable day. Despite the huge crowds making a personal best difficult, but it didnt matter because she got to complete the race and it is one of the best feelings in the world!

Nicola ran in loving memory of her family members, David Walsh and Kelly Walsh, who tragically lost their lives to su***de. Their loss is carried every single day by the family, and Nicola turned that pain into powerful purpose by raising vital funds for mental health support.
She has been completely overwhelmed by everyones kindness and generosity with a staggering £850 raised for MhIST and a further £480 raised for the Bereavement Cafe ❤️

Massive well done Nicola! You should be so incredibly proud. ❤️🏃‍♀️
