Be One Homes

Be One Homes This is a community page for Be One Homes - working to provide homes and neighbourhoods to support people to build a better life. Could we help you?

We own, manage, and maintain around 19,000 homes across the region. We invest to improve the quality of our properties for tenants and are building new homes to give as many people as we can the opportunity to live in a quality, affordable home. Our work goes far beyond bricks and mortar. We tackle poverty with debt and money advice. We provide food and clothes initiatives and help people keep war

m for less. We support tenants and residents into training and employment, and deal with antisocial behaviour. We help customers to remain independent in their own homes with a community alarm service and adaptations. And we work with volunteer groups to build sustainable communities. We're a charitable community benefit society that works to make people’s lives better by providing quality housing, giving people opportunities to prosper, and helping customers to maximise their income. To achieve this, we work in partnership with a variety of local charities, social enterprises, and other agencies. We also work to make a lasting difference to lives across the city region, as one of the Greater Manchester Housing Providers working in partnership to achieve more together. And we've created subsidiaries within our group structure to acquire more properties and provide the means to invest more in communities and neighbourhoods. We know that successful community regeneration requires more than developing and managing homes, it needs a commitment to help people become more socially and economically active. Between April 2024 and March 2025, we supported over 2,300 families with money advice and helped people to achieve financial gains amounting to £13.1 million. Our employment related programmes helped over 200 people into paid work and more into training. And we supported 166 local groups and organisations. We also provide direct financial support to voluntary, community and social enterprise partners. We provide housing and personal support to people who are vulnerable, at risk of homelessness, and survivors of domestic abuse and violence. We run community projects to develop people’s skills, health, and confidence. And our staff make a difference in the neighbourhoods we serve by volunteering and donating to charitable causes. New Board Chair to take up role in July

We’re delighted to confirm that Mark Wilkinson will take up the role of Chair of the Board at Be One Homes on 1 July, following a planned handover period with current Chair Ian Munro.

Over recent weeks, Mark has been working closely with Ian and the Board as part of the handover. This reflects a carefully managed approach, helping to maintain stability as the organisation continues to make progress.

Mark has been a member of the Board for the past four years, including serving as Vice Chair and Senior Independent Director. He was appointed following a formal recruitment process and brings a strong focus on listening to customers and ensuring accountability, alongside a commitment to supporting colleagues and improving services.

The Board provides oversight of the organisation and its governance, working alongside our Executive Leadership Team, which is responsible for day-to-day operations and supporting our people. This change in leadership comes at an important time as we move forward as Be One Homes.

Since being established in 2002, the organisation has had only three Chairs. Mark will be the fourth. This continuity reflects a strong tradition of long-term stewardship.

Ian Munro remains Chair until 1 July and continues to provide leadership during this period. He has made an enormous contribution during his time as Chair, and this will be recognised more fully as he steps down.

You can find more information about our Board here: https://beonehomes.com/about/how-we-are-run/board/

Some people carry more than most.

This week, as we reflect on the D-Day anniversary and all those who have served in the Armed Forces, and mark recognising the contribution of unpaid carers, we’re also recognising care-experienced young people building their independence.

▪️ Veterans have carried responsibilities many of us never will.

▪️ Carers carry responsibilities every day, often quietly, and Carers Week is a chance to recognise that.

▪️ Care leavers often carry adult responsibilities much earlier than other young people.

Across Greater Manchester, us and other members of the Greater Manchester Housing Providers (GMHP) Partnership are working to make sure people don’t face barriers or disadvantage simply because of their circumstances.

Through our commitments and wider work, this includes helping people access and sustain a home, alongside advice, support and opportunities where needed.

Thank you to all veterans and carers across our communities for your service, care, and support.

Find out more about the commitments of GMHP members on the GMHP website.

🚫 Action against fly-tipping 🚫

A resident in Farnworth has recently been convicted in court and ordered to pay a fine and court costs for repeatedly leaving bags of rubbish next to a communal bin store.

Fly-tipping is the illegal dumping of waste - for example, leaving items beside bins, in communal areas or anywhere that isn’t a registered waste facility. It can harm the environment, attract pests and create health and fire risks in our communities.

At Be One Homes, we’re working in partnership with local councils to investigate and take action against incidents of illegal waste disposal on land we own.

🗑️ Your waste is your responsibility Please make sure you:

✅ Use the correct bins for your rubbish and recycling
🚫 Don’t leave items beside bins or in communal areas
📦 Arrange proper disposal for larger or bulky items

Many councils offer bulky waste collection services, and some provide one free collection per year for eligible households. Please check your local council’s website for details.

👉 Bolton Council's bulky waste collection: https://www.bolton.gov.uk/rubbish-recycling/bulky-item-collections/6

If you see overflowing bins or fly-tipping, please report it.

Together, we can help keep our neighbourhoods clean, safe and welcoming for everyone 💙
