Friendship and Memory Cafe, Edgworth

12/10/2026

A big thank you to our entertainers at the Memory Cafe this month. First of all Pauline Booth kicked us off with a sing song followed by Elinor then Nick with Play your Cards Right. Nick proudly presented us with a cheque for £900 from the Edgworth Walking Football team.

And finally we were entertained today by Litany, a local folk group who was enjoyed by all.

REMEMBERING STEWART

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to Stewart and take a bit of time to reflect on the wonderful contribution that he made to our Friendship and Memory Cafe .
When the cafe first started we were a small group with little more than a transistor radio for music. Then Susan brought Stewart along and and before long he was entertaining us with his solo performances.
A few weeks later Stewart invited the Greenmount Strummers ,a group that he played with to come and perform for us .
Later he formed a smaller group called The No Names who became a much loved part of our cafe .
Stewart devoted many hours to choosing music ,organising rehearsals and coordinating performances.
His enthusiasm and dedication brought joy ,friendship and companionship to so many people .
Without Stewart our group would not be what it is today.
His kindness ,talent and commitment helped shape our cafe into the special place that it has become.
He will be greatly missed but fondly remembered every time that we gather together and the music plays .
Our thoughts are with Susan and all of Stewart’s family and friends .
