For the May 2026 meeting Bolsover WI members enjoyed a talk by Laura Martin, barrister, who works as a District Crown Prosecutor for East Midlands Crown Prosecution Service. Laura explained the work of the CPS and in particular her role specialising in Domestic Abuse cases. It was particularly interesting to hear about her work liaising with police forces to improve the experiences of survivors of all types of domestic abuse throughout the EastMidlands and beyond. The work of The Elm Foundation, a charity supporting women and families who are survivors of domestic abuse, was also discussed.
